This video pretty much put everything in perspective →[More:] Yeah, I was all set to mope the rest of the evening but when I got 46 seconds into that video, I decided that my dissertation matters little to the grand scheme of things. Plus, watching all those happy people relaxing on the beach watching fireworks just did it for me.

I did end up going to the bbq. I made this, a mecha suggestion. Now I am all beered up, happy, and ready to face another challenging day.

You did the right thing! I cancelled everything social for weeks before my MA dissertation was due- I'm sure I would have stayed saner if I'd had more distractions.

They're Discovery Channel's Mythbusters, LT, and the dude doing the lighting is MeFi's Own Adam Savage. And when you see the other dude on the show, you'll know, he's allowed.

XKCD is the geekiest webcomic ever (or the most successful geeky webcomic ever) except when it demonstrates weird pranks or bad relationship stuff. Then it's just badly drawn stickpeople.
