The Boat of Car. [More:]So, we get this real gully washer of a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. On my way out from work, I turn down a street, and essentially get caught in a flash flood, my car in about two feet of water. Of course, the engine stops, and I am sitting there as I get washed by the wakes of passing semi trailers who keep going through. A good samaritan tows me out of the street and into a parking lot, where I leave the car overnight hoping my starter will dry out.

This morning, I got up very early after a very non restful night, and went to get my car, which still did not start. I had a sinking feeling which was far too accurate, for when I opened the air filter assembly, water poured out. Yay, hydro-lock! My engine is going to have to be pulled apart and or replaced. Being the kind of "The glass is half empty, cracked, and leaking fast" kind of guy I am, I immediately started worrying whether my insurance would cover it. After several hours of phone tag (the local insurance office was without power) I learned that it would indeed be covered. Still, it was pretty darn hectic. While I am tired, frazzled, and just generally wiped out, at least I'm not looking at a $2000 repair bill... but I still have that They Might Be Giants song stuck in my head.

How is your day?
Cheers to good samaritans!
Jeers to hydro-lock.
Cheers to insurance coverage!
Jeers to feeling frazzled.
Big time cheers to the word "gullywasher"!

My day is much better since you got Margaret Seiler's voice stuck in my craw.

What a horrible turn of events.

Sorry.

I hate dealing with real-world problems like this because they are so much hassle, take way too many phone calls, and you never know if anyone will follow-through with their end of the issue.

PS: could you send some rain our way? be happy to take it off your hands....
