The World's Strangest Housing Communities. I've seen photos of the pod village in Taiwan before, on Flickr and elsewhere, but I think my favorite on this list might be the reproduction McMansion-style subdivision (named "Orange County") located in Beijing, China.

The "Orange County" project reminds me of something I've posted about here before, the replica of Lyons, France being built in Dubai.

I'm sad that the pod village was never completed. It looks so awesome!! I hope someone goes in to clean it up and finish construction before it rots away completely.

The pod village needs an invasion of like-minded foreigners, it is an ideal cult / commune location. And the locals don't want it, so you could have it for a song!

I can only pitch in $75, but I promise to wire the pods for stereo speakers, and install black lights and day-glo posters in the rooms, once we get there.

I'm in. I can send $4.73 towards revitalizing the pod village. I totally adore it. Do you think it could be moved to Asheville? I bet we could sell it here.
