Mysteriouser and mysteriouser... I was about to go to the bathroom last night, and as I opened the door to the toilet, I looked at the wall, and noticed something that struck me as odd. It took me longer than you'd think to work out that the thing that was puzzling me was the set of paw prints going down - and up - my wall.[More:]

I don't have a cat.

It appears my house has had a visitor lately. I guess that explains the cat that keeps trying to come in via the front door that has seemed very at home in my place.
...but cats can't walk on walls, can they?

There was an open window just above the paw prints - it was the cat jumping down and then jumping up again, more than walking up and down... but the prints kind of look like it could have been walking on walls.

When cats jump down from things they will sometimes use their front paws to 'walk' down the wall a little way before jumping off.

I don't know your feelings about cats, but that sounds like the best mystery EVER. I want a mystery kitty!

I have nothing to contribute except that I read the first part of the post a "mysterio-user and mysterio-user", which led the post an odd first impression.

My father used to have a mysterious stray cat that would suddenly appear in his bedroom even when all the windows and doors were shut. It took about a year to figure out that the cat was sneaking into the basement and then jumping into duct, which led to my father's walk in closet (actually my mother's closet before the divorce). Not being particularly organized, it wasn't until we decided to clean out the mess that we discovered that the grate at the end of the duct had been pushed out of the way and how "Houdini" had been materializing for a year.

I think it's awesome, dismas. I'm a wannabe cat lady. It's one of my ambitions, as soon as I can I'm getting a blue rinse, buying 20 cats, and boiling cabbages all day long to scare off little kids. I can't wait. Shame it's about 40 years away...
