We got a new hamster on Sunday, a Teddy Bear named Toffee. Put her into the same cage as Snowball, our Black Bear hammy. There was a bit of tussling at first, partly for dominance and partly because we think Toffee has wet tail.

We gave them medicine for the wet tail, and they now live (mostly) in peace together. I say mostly because sometimes Snowball will try to use Toffee as a pillow and Toffee yells. She likes to chatter a lot, and is the most vocal hamster I have ever known. Her presence is also making snowball more active, and we're having more fun with the hamsters now than before.

Toffee has decided that she would prefer the food be stored in the bottom of the fish tank rather than an upper level of the wire tank topper. Right now she is transferring every bit of food from the food dish down to her giant ass larder. It has taken four cheekfulls, so far. Snowball is just standing by with a general, "WTF, n00b?" look on her face.
