I watched the first quarter with my 14-year-old son, who was barely interested in the game. When the first quarter ended, I turned to him and said "It's funny, but having such a big lead this early seems to be a curse in the NBA." Then we wandered off and, after seeing online that the game was tightening up, I returned to the game late in the third quarter. He kept doing Runescape in another room.

When I told him the final score, he looked at me with awe ... which happens very rarely, needless to say.

Could Kobe Bryant whine more about every single play?

The greatest Celtics win since Game 5 of the 1987 Eastern Conference Finals. Or maybe longer than that, as this gives them a commanding lead in the Finals.

I need to watch that 3d quarter again. It was 20 points with about 5 minutes to go... then it was ten points, like a minute and a half later. Ray Allen's steal and coast-to-coast drive I think brought them withing ten, but man, it happened so fast.

PJ Brown's dunk over Kobe to pull within a bucket at the end of the 3d... Allen's drive from the corner and reverse layup... his smoking of Vujukic at the end... House's catch-and-shoot to give the Celts their first lead... Posey's 3... Pierce's move to his right and bucket with Kobe in his face as the shot clock ran down... Oh, man. So many great moments in that second half. Thank god I took a 3-hour nap beforehand.

I have been really conflicted. It is in my genes to hate the Celtics.

At the same time, the Lakers have not earned anything and rooting for Bryant is no fun, on many many levels.

Jackson is also one of the poorest losers around, and not a very magnanimous winner, either. He and Aurbach are soul mates, in that respect, I guess.

Last night was painful. I can quit watching now and get on with my life.

(Hopefully the Blazers will be worth rooting for next year.)

It is a good day to die. || A question about acknowledgement...
