Some pics of commissioning and graduation. There would be more, but the photo lab at Walmart had a glitch in their disk maker so I couldn't post the pics I made. (I'll be getting them later-for free-but still.) These photos are courtesy of MY folks, who did NOT go to Walmart.[More:]

The interior pics are of my son's squadron's commissioning ceremony (which happened the day before graduation.) What happens is that all forty squadrons have their own ceremony in various locations on the Academy grounds. My son's was at 7:30. This was good because half the squadrons had theirs starting at 10 pm.

As to the grad, it was a cold, windy, foggy, drizzly morning and we were in the cheap seats which were assigned by squadron. I should have borrowed some binoculars...
Congrats, bunnyfire and son! These are really nice. You must be very proud.

I am, but I am feeling the equivalent of post Christmas letdown. Wasn't expecting that!

Looks like a great day bunnyfire! Congrats to Joshua.

But erm, cheap seats? I hope you didn't have to pay to attend your son's graduation.

No, the tickets were freebies. I did pay two dollars for something that purported to be hot chocolate, but was mildly chocolate flavored water. As cold as it was, the heat was all that mattered!

Gah, I hear you. It looks like it was really foggy in some of the pictures - I thought it was smoke from a fly-over or something!

Congrats to Joshua! But I gotta say those Air Force dress unis make the cadets look like the maitre d' in a two-star resort restaurant -- c'mon Air Force, you fly supersonic fighter jets and stealth bombers! Surely you can come up with slicker unis than those!

I mean, the Army looks utilitarian and efficient in green, the Navy looks tradition-rich and resplendent in white, and the Marines look dashing and deadly in blue. I suggest the Air Force switch to black and scarlet, with a white scarf and aviator goggles. And those cool gloves with the knuckles cut out. That'd be awesome.

Yeah, the commissioning photos were mess dress-my son had to wear that again two days after grad as a buddy of his was getting married at the USAFA Chapel and he was in the wedding.

I actually think that uni is pretty cool-on the other hand the uniform they wear to grad totally makes me laugh. I have his here behind me as we speak. The pants in particular are...hilarious.

(BitterOldPunk, that sounds all kinds of awesome. Heh.)

I may have mentioned this, but because of the weather they cancelled the airshow (not the flyover) and of course, the MINUTE we got to the parking lot the sun came out and it was a beautiful day. ARG!

I had to pay for a ticket to my sister's graduation. There was limited space, and I guess a reoccurring problem with people bringing everyone they've ever encountered since birth, so others couldn't even get their parents in. So, the school started giving every student two free tickets with an option to purchase any others for like $20. Not a huge deal. Although four freebies would make more sense as I suspect more kids these days have four parents than two (counting the steps).

Congrats to you and your son, Bunnyfire. Looks like a great day (and lovely weather.)
