Fountains of Wayne Hotline: hilarious homage/parody by Robbie Fulks. (The song is embedded in a tiny little player at the end of the article in the first link.)
I love Robbie Fulks. But I can't help feeling that he would be twice as popular if he were half as clever.

I love Fountains Of Wayne. I saw them live and the gig was ruined by awful sound. It was in my favourite London venue, so I know it wasn't the acoustics, rather the cretinous sound man. Grrr.

I got to see FoW on the "Welcome Interstate Managers" tour in what amounted to a large church basement. It was freakin' great.

I've never seen Robbie Fulks play live, though I'd like to.

When I first heard this a while ago I had to go online and get some extra info, becasue I couldn't tell if FOW were involved or not. He totally nailed their sound and song writing approach.

I've seen FOW 5 or 6 times insc e the first album, and they never disappoint. They're one of my favorite bands that are still active.

Nice.

Funnily enough I think the songs structured like that are what initially attract people but for me the ones that truly stick are songs like Hackensack and Fire Island

TheDonF - I think I was at that gig too
