Fictional evil organizations - There's SPECTRE from James Bond, KAOS from Get Smart, and my personal fave, the Guild of Calamitous Intent from the Venture Brothers. Who am I missing?→[More:]
Lancelot Link's foe was CHUMP (Criminal Headquarters for Underworld Master Plan) and Derek Flint battled Galaxy. And then there's the most sinister of all: BOFFOE!(Bmarkey's Opposition of Famous Fictional Organizations of Evil!).
SMERSH - early James Bond
THRUSH - Man from UNCLE
PURRR - The Avengers (Philanthropic Union for Rescue, Relief and Recuperation of Cats)
ZOWIE - Our Man Flint
Yeah, I was gonna say--as I remember it, Spacely was at least as evil as Cogswell. Kinda like GM and Ford. That said, it's been a while since I've seen The Jetsons.
ZOWIE (Zonal Organization World Intelligence Espionage) from James Coburn's "Our Man Flint". No... wait... that was the organization of the GOOD guys.
When in doubt... Wikipedia, which does mix the Good secret organizations with the Bad ones.
My faves include Section 31 from Star Trek: DS9 (Trek dabbling in a paranoia plot? Hell yeah!), TRES in Foucault's Pendulum (which I pretend I've read when I want to act intellectual), The Millennium Group from you-know, and those sworn enemies of the cartoon Kids Next Door, THE DELIGHTFUL CHILDREN FROM DOWN THE LANE (TDCFDTL?).
Interesting on the list how many creators called their secret (usually evil) society "The Trust". No shortage of irony.
