three point update.... 1. Husband's stepdad's funeral today. Then hubs flies back tomorrow...it was weird seeing all the news reports on Kennedy yesterday, as Kennedy has the same thing Ron did. Hope it turns out much better for Kennedy. He has a rough road ahead of him.→[More:]

2. Kinda nice to be bacheloretting these last couple of days, tho. Got unpacked, now I have to go develop pictures, and such.

3. I'm suffering post-graduation letdown and it wasn't even my grad. I had no idea how much of my life focus was trained on my son's graduation-now I kinda feel like "now what?" Fortunately he doesn't seem to be suffering from the same condition. He's still up in Colorado and will be driving down here eventually, after doing some camping all by himself and hopefully avoiding being bear or mountain lion food. Did I mention a mountain lion snatched and ate a cat in front of a child four houses down where I was staying in Colorado Springs? and this in a SUBDIVISION??????

1. I've been feeling all sniffly since I rolled out of bed this morning and going in and out from the stacks totes isn't helping matters.

2. I want to do something with my summer projects, but it's hard because everything I want to do requires me running it by other people first. GARGH. It shouldn't be this hard!

3. I'm super eager about getting a new phone, but I'm not so eager about finding out how much more it's going to cost me every month. :(

1) Going to Duke this afternoon for a neurology app't. Expecting bizarre amounts of weirdness, due to the Kennedy situation. BTW, I tutored the surgeon's son in Spanish some years ago. Got his grade up to a B+ from a D.

2) Somewhat frantically preparing for a work day tomorrow where I'll be running around from event to event. Doc's app't (different one, whee!), boss meeting, HIV advocacy day at the legislature, HIV prevention program at a group home many miles away. Will be working from home tonight to make sure I get it all done.

3) Hungry. Want mac&cheese.

1. Nervous about ongoing landlord issues. Called her back today and left a message, which was a relief, but I think phone tag will just anger the beast.

2. Trying to get a lot of work done before I go on my trip, but everyone around me is being lazy and telling me that they don't want to do their parts. I yelled at a coworker I like for skipping a meeting that he should have been at. It's his damn book!

3. Hungry but don't want the pineapple or the lettuce I have in the fridge.

1) About a fifth of the staff just got laid off here, including the lady who works across from me, and some folks I've worked with for years. We've known this was coming for weeks, and the atmosphere has been totally poisonous the whole time. This sucks.

2) Pain in my shoulder and the beginnings of a stress headache.

3) Realllly want to go home.

1. Getting very anxious waiting to find out if I'll be laid off in the current massive downsizing. In 17 years with the same company I've survived 6 or 7 major restructures, but there are so few people left to cut the odds aren't in my favor this time. For months I've been being cool and saying "whatever happens happens", but now I just want it to happen. It is all I can think about now!!! Less than 2 weeks from knowing what happens - and it could happen at any minute!

2. Listening to an advance of the new Alejando Escovedo which is kicking my ass. I'm on the third spin already today and it just keeps getting better.

3. Must...drink....more....coffee.

1. Going to Florida tomorrow. Still lots to do- need to pack, get pedicure, do a little house cleaning.

2. Twinkie got her nails trimmed in anticipation of the trip. The woman at the desk couldn't believe the stickers on her chart- AGGRESSIVE, WILL BITE. Be not tricked! She's more evil than she looks. She was not happy after the trim and is now insisting on sitting with me and her tummy is like 1000 degrees. She may get a B-A-T-H later, too, which would really make not her happy.

3. Wrapping up loose ends at work before I leave. Sent out the last call e-mail- I'm leaving and not coming back for a week! Hope y'all don't need me while I'm gone.

1. Moving in 2 weeks. Must think logistics. for essexjan: we are moving to East Harlem - is that address more in line with your non-posh sensibilities?

2. Summer student slave is excellent. More time for sitting on my butt doing nothing while she does all my work!

3. The fucking OB-GYN fellows are driving me insane with their incessant demands and entitlement.

1. Work is still sucking, worse than ever in fact. We were told today that, in addition to the 25% extra work we were given last week, we are expected to take our usual case allocation this week AND extra cases on top too. No reply from the job agencies yet.

2. Got soaked on the way home, right through to my skin. I had to peel my clothes off, they were so wet. Ugh!

3. But to console myself I talked to my lovely boyfriend on the phone, and I have just eaten a handful of my new favourite food.

1. Hey, it's a new installment of Critter Troubles, the laff a minute saga that never ends!
a) There's a rat in my garage. I'm trying not to think about it. But it's out there and it's evil and I fear it.
b) The groundhogs who live under the shed are eating my vegetable garden down to the ground. Looks like all I'm going to be able to grow this year are hot peppers and basil. Also, weeds. At least groundhogs are cute.

2. Have enormous scary shit tons of work to do. But am procrastinating as usual.

3. Need to apply for dream job which is currently open but for some reason am procrastinating that as well. Sigh. Need to get off enormous Ass of Laziness and do stuff.

1. Came back from NYC with daughter yesterday (her 18th birthday present) & waved her off at another airport last night as she flies the coop. Bawled my eyes out!
2. Proud, happy and heartbroken is the weirdest mix I have ever felt
3. when does it get easier??? (she just called to say her first day at a real job went beautifully, here's hoping she earns enough to at least help with her College tuition!)

1. OUR 18 year old daughter came by thinking she would be getting her fancy cell phone. But we informed her not until she pays for her best friend's airline ticket that she lied and conned us into buying. She will still get her ticket, since she's hell-bent on moving to Texas and in with a boy she doesn't know "because she's 18 and can do what she wants". Blowing off her last year of cosmetology school (which was a free ride) for God knows what. Anger, betrayal, and hurt is how we feel.

2. I did get a lot of things done today, which felt very gratifying. Ran errands, a little retail therapy, laundry, cleaned house, and it all feels really, really good.

3. Mr. V wants me to hem a pair of pants for him to wear tomorrow. Mind you, I don't own a sewing machine so it will be done by hand. Yippee.
