HOT SAUCE ON WHAAAAT!? Okay, so this must have happened to some of you. It's late, you've had a few, you're hungry but too tired and drubk to cook anything, and all you really know is that you have some good hot sauce (like my current crazy chili stuff w/ a little sesame oil and a label spelled in Chinese characters) on something. What. Do. You. Do?!
Spaghetti (tossed in olive oil).

Or eggs. But probably spaghetti.

Since my mom has been out of action for the past few days due to a migraine, and because everyone including myself has got it in their heads that she is the only one capable of shopping for food, there has been a shortage of food in the house.
During this time, I have put hot sauce (Frank's Red Hot, THE BEST) on cold hotdogs, cooked hotdogs, eggs, bagels, eggs and bagels, and baloney, and just about anything else I managed to scavenge from the fridge.

I would also recommend pizza or, most ideally, chicken wings (dur).

I ended up going with a couple slices of toasted millet bread with soy butter & hot sauce & a little (Newman's Tomato/Basil) spaghetti sauce. This:

...hot sauce has a really smoky flavor and, when mixed with spaghetti sauce, tastes almost like spicy pepperoni.

Nice.

Thanks for the ideas. Keep 'em coming, eh? G'night.

eggs, basmati & shrimp, couscous & mussels, any mix of quick fried veggies, rice noodles, or egg noodles and any left over meat.

Heat up some broth (or veggie equivalent). If needed, add tamari/soy sauce to make it salty enough. Then add hot sauce to taste. Also: try adding it to otherwise bland tomato soups.

And, as others have pointed out, anything hot or tomato-ey goes pretty well with eggs and/or tortillas. Especially corn tortillas slightly blackened over an open flame.

It's 4am and thanks to a large Mountain Dew I'm still up.
And I'm starving.
I've got one bagel left, some baloney, and Ramen. And hot sauce.
I'm going to try some combination of those. I'll get back to you.

Frank's Red Hot is indeed crucial, but only part of the quiver of hot sauces any asbestos-mouthed fire-fan should have. I would also recommend, as a minimum, Cholula, and the essential Tuong Ot Sriracha.

Kyleg: Duly noted. Unfortunately I'm out of cheese, but as soon as I get some...
Jtron: I'll definitely check those two out. Thanks!
Shane: Thank you for this post.

Also I just made top ramen and doused it in hot sauce and it was the best ramen I've ever had.

Hot sauce on a french fries is a fave. But a late night night fave is a toritilla with refired beans and hot sauce (three things we almost always have in the house). And hot sauce on Ramen is always a good stand by.

I like home fries, cheese omelette, and an english muffin with butter on top. Then douse the plate completely with cholula.

Some guy my parents knew swore by Louisiana Hot Sauce on cottage cheese.

When I heard that I asked "what was he raised on? Leftovers?"

I put LHS on Lay's potato chips. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

Recently I discovered LHS on hard boiled eggs.

Others put salsa on popcorn.

The sauce you're asking about could be mixed with some flour and slathered over pork chops and fried. Or not even with flour, just cut up the chops and simmer in the sauce with some water. With new potatoes.

Ramen is always better without the sauce in the packet, imo. Hot sauce and some type of soy or tamari is great.

Thanks for the recommendations, jtron. There's a local store here that sells nothing but hot sauce. I'll look for those types eventually. I'll try the hot sauce popcorn, too, lysdexic--been meaning to do that. Brewer's yeast is great on popcorn too, and you'll never be B12 deficient that way.

Mixing hot sauce with melted butter and pouring over popcorn is a great treat.

When I was growing up, I liked to eat goldfish crackers covered in hot sauce. Weird, but tasty.
