D had set up camp, and arranged for guests to sign in.

The next day, D & I inflated his boat and took it for a spin to Salt Spring. Gorgeous day, lots of boats on the water, bought a whack of crab, ate oysters, saw a school of porpoises playing around our boat on the way back. Cooked up a mad crab feast, ate, drank and were merry.

Sunday, R's birthday. Cooked four ducks--two a l'orange, two with Chinese five spice and star anise. Served the over roasted cauliflower that taz so kindly brought to our attention, to rave reviews. (Thanks, taz!) Lots of good friends, sangria, and perfect weather.

Monday rained like a bastard, so consisted of naps and reading and D's duck soup. Yep, if I've gotta leave this place, this is a good way to do it.

No, I don't have MOFB, hence the sharing with the bunnies ;)

So how were your weekends? What did I miss?

I also got to spend lots of time with R's lovely gf, L, who valiantly scoured the city for 4 frozen ducks, and then hauled them from Vancouver to Vancouver Island to Galiano, and without whose help Sunday's birthday dinner would have been served some time on Monday.

Jealous.

aw. I'm so sorry to see the cabin go... and so sympathizing about the moving part. Dear god in heaven, I've moved too many times.

But it sounds like such a lovely and perfect send-off for this particular chapter in your life. Plus, over roasted cauliflower! I just sent this recipe to my mom before coming here and seeing your post. :)

Yeah, I'm sad to give it up, too, but the steps to the deck just went and the deck's growing more hazardous by the day and I don't know anyone who would sublet it because it's ridiculously fucking expensive for what it is and most of my friends don't have the money or wouldn't pay that much rent if they did. *sigh*
