Yummmm. I agree, there's nothing like the real deal - simple, rich, silky. A hint of lemon zest is all you need.

Those chain-restaurant cheesecakes glommed up with cherry sauce and Bailey's Irish Cream and all that...naaaah.

We make a cheesecake at home with sweet potato mashed in the batter - it's a ridiculously time-consuming and technically-challenging cake (as we don't have a food processor), so we only do it at Christmas, but dear god it's worth it. Incredibly rich, dense, and complex. We don't even top it with heavy cream.

I'd like to try making a cheesecake with a subtler Italian cheese, one day.

Trader Joe's does a good frozen cheesecake. All it needs is a topping of raspberries and it's pretty close to perfect.
