eggs + ketchup! [More:]I'd resisted trying thus unholy combination until yesterday.

I tried it.

I LIKED it.

LOVED it, even. The combination of egg and ketchup created an entirely new flavor, a flavor I couldn't possibly have imagined.

I gave my partner a deeply sincere apology for my nearly ten years of making fun of his love ketchup & eggs.

Consider me humbled. Ketchup and eggs -- truly a case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts.
Fool. Why did you wait so long?

have you tried hot sauce?

Ketchup is good. Tabasco is godhead.

So, like, ketchup is the gateway drug to tabasco?? I'm scared.

Tabasco AND ketchup!

C'mon, treepour. All the cool kids are doing it...

Tabasco is highly overrated, IMNSHO. It's just vinegar and peppers. Try Arizona Gunslinger or Pickapeppa or, if you can get it, Marie Sharp's. Now that's hot sauce. And with eggs? Dreamy.

Tabasco is hot sauce for kids.

Tabasco haters to the left.

Way far to the left.

I'm torn. I've yet to be to the right on any issue... yet I don't hate Tabasco.

Oh, also? I just ate a potato and feta cheese omelet on a bed of greens, and it was good. No ketchup or tabasco, though.

I don't hate Tabasco at all. But...

It's hot sauce for kids.

There's right and there's "right". I'm not sure which is which, but I can say that if loving Tabasco is wrong... y'all are on the wrong track.
posted by bmarkey 12 May | 02:33
It's wrong, bmarkey. As the self-appointed arbiter of these things, I say it is wrong for all people. (And don't even *think* about a coup.)

Well, here's the thing: something like pickapeppa is fine, because there's still some flavor to it. There are so many hot sauces out there that are only about heat, though. They're like weeding your lawn with a cruise missle. I'm interested in adding flavor to my meal, not collecting chemical burns.

I like a mixture of ketchup and hot sauce, or just hot sauce on eggs. I won't say which one because I don't want to be jumped on!

When I was 7, my pediatrician told me he put maple syrup on his eggs, so I ate them that way for a few years. (It was the DOCTOR'S ADVICE!!)
