Photo Friday: Something that makes you proud Suggested by seanyboy? This is another one of the old themes that was left in the Wiki for a while...
Why is every photo-friday "suggested by seanyboy?"
What did I do?

I don't think I suggested this one either. fwiw.

Aha. Here it is... Suggested by Eideteker.

I'm insanely proud that a stranger bought a t-shirt I designed. Imagine my delight when I happened to come across a picture of someone wearing one of my designs. There's a back story, of course. Link goes to the in-the-wild sighting.

mrmoonpie. . .please further inform my benighted mind about the back story .. I clicked on it, but am still in the dark. Thank you. . .

This makes me proud.
That and the performance increase in my pay this year which pushed me over a number I've had in my head for about 3 years. I actually put my payslip on my office photo board. (this display board has pictures of all my loved ones and they've now been joined by a payslip!)

So, last fall we went to PDF, a local Burning-Man-type thing. One of the theme camps was called Whiskey and Whores--free booze, you know. At some point during the festivities, a young lady got a little too inebriated (or otherwise impaired) and, well, straight up took a dump in that motherfucker. She disappeared soon after, but the next morning, everyone was treated to a string of jokes about the event.

After everyone got home, there was a discussion of the event, and the mystery dumper outed herself and apologized. There was some good-natured ribbing, and some outright condemnation of her, but most people had a there-but-for-the-grace-of-god-go-I attitude. One member of the discussion group suggested a commemorative t-shirt. Since I've done several other one-off Cafe Press shirts, I did the honors, even though I never expected anyone to buy one. It was really meant as a joke. Then one day I was browsing pictures, and there it was.

We're not doing PDF this year, but the spin-off Wickerman. I got a shirt, and will wearing it proudly.

I'm proud of the fact that, at 40, I'm more than twice as fit, and a much faster bike racer than I was at 20.

I'm also pretty proud of this bike (it was a swapmeet rescue), as you can tell by my comments on that photo.

I'm the one in front (natch), in the GS Boulder kit.

mrmoonpie, you should be very proud indeed. Great story. I knew you weren't the other fellow in the picture, but for a second I thought of you as him. He looks proud too!

Now for something too corny for me. But, hell, I'm gonna say, to you guys especially, because this site, and some of the people here helped me with that-which-I-am-currently-proud-of.

It's me. I'm proud of me. Six months ago, I was in the deepest depression of my life. One friend her recommended a book, which I bought, like I've bought other books. I started reading this one though, and it really clicked. Now, 6 months later, I am still going through some medical-related things (psych. wants to test me for sleep apnea, send me to a CBT based course, wean me off the drugs I'm on) but fuck-it-all-to-hell, I feel BETTER THAN I HAVE FELT IN YEARS. I could almost cry typing this out. I'm not gonna. You don't have to. I'm just saying. I am fucking proud of ME for digging in, getting a couple of handholds, and pulling up harder each time and staying up there.

Many of us have posted to these pages looking for a hug, a reassurance, a clue, something that can help us break out of the little meatspace we occupy. I have friends in meatspace, yes, and they helped me too, but for some reason, I feel like this place is the thing that I can be most honest with.

So, what can I say. Thanks to you. Thanks to taz, and seanyboy, and dodgy, and the seemingly-AWOL ico, and arsehat, and anyone else whom I have forgotten who helps keep this place up and available for itinerant twats like me to wander in and find like minded folks who can help.

So, here, this is a picture of what I'm most proud of. I look like a goof, but I am sure you'll understand.

richat, that is awesome. Good for you! I've been in terrible slumps. When you get out, it's like. glad that's over! Thank you heaven! ("Thank you heaven" is what my five-year-old says when he is thankful, so I borrow the term from time to time.) Heaven didn't do the work, you did, and you deserve to be very proud!!

I'm proud of my kids. My oldest puts in such a solid effort in everything he does. My youngest is so conscientious of other's feelings and does a great job of looking out for his older brother. They look out for each other. They're such wonderful, kind people, I feel so fortunate to have them in my life.
