Uh oh.... I fear Mrs. Dove is no more. I mentioned her about two weeks ago. This evening it seems she is gone. I am sad.
Great shot of that beautiful dove.
I 'aint never seen 144 annuals protected by Brinks though. Tough neighbourhood that.

Maybe she found a mate?

She was already on a nest, so I assumed she had already mated.

Maybe she just needed a break and will be back in the morning. Maybe the neighborhood cats got her.

Usually the male stays near by the female so I figured she was looking for a guy.

arse_hat is right, pigeons and doves are usually in pairs for life, especially doves (pigeons are a little sluttier). I'm looking at a pair of collared doves on my bird table right now. Your girl was probably broody, made a nest and was waiting for the guy to show up. As any woman could have told her, that never works.

Awww I like doves. And yeah, maybe she just moved on? Is the nest in a place that gets a lot of heat? we had some kestrels that abandoned their nest last year b/c it got too hot too fast.

Whew! It's like a soap opera. I was on the edge of my seat.
