He hates this picture because he thinks I'm making fun of him. I love this picture because he looks peaceful and a little amazed, which are things he hasn't had recently.

and the John Hancock building in Chicago, a favorite place to go take in the views with a good (although overpriced) cocktail:

crush, that pic of the Sears tower is awesome! Very Blade Runner-esque.

Thanks, BoPo! I took that two winters ago, when I worked across the street from the tower.

jouke that's awesome!

hmpf. I had a good one - some WWII cargo planes, in formation - that I shot at the bike race last Sunday but I've not had time or inclination to process yet this week... oh, well.

Also, there's a ton of great photos this week. Mucho, mucho greatness. I think I will have to pack up my camera and find a new hobby now. Too many people are getting good at this.

arse_hat, I love the variety of blues in your shots.

The fella in the grey tank-top is my brother in law. The woman in the ever-so-doofy straw hat on the right is my mom. The middle pair are a couple that we met on the beach. He's a former Gulf War I vet that got blinded by shrapnel. She's a hairstylist. They live somewhere in Georgia (damn....Macon? Athens? I don't recall). Tied to the former-vet's chair is his Spongebob Squarepants kite. I found it awesome that he could have a blast on the beach (Cape San Blas, FL, fwiw) hanging out and flying a kite even though he was blind.

"Walking to the Sky" is in Dallas too? There's an installation of it on CMU's campus in Pittsburgh.

Gorgeous, all of you! Update on mine: I ran into my friend Stu, a tree faller and old-time islander, whose brother is named Gord. I asked if it was his brother who was advertising on that sign. "Shit, no," he said, "he gets scared standing on a chair."

It was hysterically funny at the time. But then, there was beer involved.
