Holy cow, I can't believe this album is ten years old already.
This is where I show how uncool I am.
I don't recognize this band or album!

It's a very cool album, lleachie... here's a couple of songs from it:

Wow, time flies.

Although I admit, I didn't start listening to Air until 2003/2004.

I never heard of them until a year ago but the fact that I'm (at least) ten years behind in my musical taste doesn't surprise me.

This album is one of those that define my grad school years. Love it.

Had it since it came out. It has served me well as a make-out album.

Moon Safari is great, but happily, Pocket Symphony is the greatest thing they've ever touched. So at least we aren't looking back so fondly...

BP: Thanks for making me feel REALLY old.

Not too long after it came out, my ex gave me a tape of this album, saying "You'll like this". (NB I'm still pissed off at this ex for doing things like that... and being right. She once got me tix to see Douglas Adams do a lecture, springing them on me while I was mid-sulk. No fair.)

So I took the tape, and tried to hate it, but I didn't. Soon I had to get a bus from Athens to Istanbul, and I listened to Moon Safari - on auto-reverse (that's repeat for the youngsters out there) - for about ten hours (with allowances for drifting in an out of sleep and changing batteries). And I didn't get sick of it. And I'm still not.

God I hate hate hate that album. When the first single was (lucky boy?) out I adored it and the video, but then some hipper-than-thou agency I had friends at made that album their anthem and every day when I called my BF there I'd hear that album in the background as he told me that yet again our plans were cancelled because he was working late. I swear the "sound" itself gives me hives now.

BP: I felt the same way when I saw the anniversary edition in the store. Love love love this album and much of the other bands that were influenced/spawned by it.

P.S. My former roommate Scott discovered the album before I did. I remember him playing it when we were on a trip together somewhere (can't remember where). I wanted not to like it but just couldn't resist.

I love that album! Haven't picked up pocket symphony yet, but I will now.

I found my first grey hair today. || Does anybody know a truly accurate way to identify a font?
