Elsa, if you've never used mineral makeup before, the trick is to get the densest brush you have (a kabuki brust is best but a thick blusher brush will do) and buff, buff, buff, buff.
I have a mini kabuki brush that I got with my drugstore mineral powder that I'll use for this. Are you supposed to buff the concealors, too? It doesn't seem right to do that much buffing on the sensitive eye skin.
I ordered a baby Kabuki brush to accompany the samples, but I probably only buff-buffed, not buff-buff-buff-buffed. I'll certainly keep playing with the foundation.
The concealer, however, is smashing! I have a big red scrape on my chin, and one tiny touch of concealer under the foundation made it disappear for the entire evening. Amazing.
TPS, I just dotted/fingertipped the concealer on, then buffed the foundation over it, which worked a treat. Those were the instructions at Signature Minerals; the model/instructor points out that we can still see the dots of concealer before she puts on foundation.
LoriFLA, Signature Minerals offers a sampler, too, and instead of being restricted to 3 foundations, 1 blush, and 1 concealer, you can order any 6 sample items, e.g., 6 foundations, or 3 foundations and 3 concealers, or 6 eye colors. I liked being able to order more than 3 foundation colors, though the shipping was a bit more ($5.35, I think). I linked it somewhere in the initial thread.
Ethylene pointed out, though, that SigMin eye color comes in little bags, not nice plastic pots.
Okay, I finally broke down and followed these threads. Damn. Now y'all are making *me* want to try the stuff, too. And I'm another one who almost never wears makeup or suchlike. (A running joke here is that my manicures are free but they take 8 hours--I asked if we could paint a red house before my sister's wedding so that my nails would be done.)
i was going to try and take pictures of my attempts today (my lip's a bit flaky so it works there ,too) but today may be a bit of a scramble. i think i'll try to take them and the laptop with me, just in case, since i gotta run soon.
i really should moisturize first.
ethylene, I think you're younger than I am, and therefore probably smoother-skinned, so maybe this doesn't apply to you, but:
I was glad I exfoliated and moisturized before I put the stuff on yesterday. Perhaps the most striking feature I noticed after applying the minerals was the tip of my nose where, apparently, I do not exfoliate, but where I clearly need to.
Does this stuff make anyone else's face burn? I was so excited to get mine, but when I used it, I got a subtle, but unmistakable sensation of burning that didn't fade until I washed it all off.
I got mine yesterday too, but haven't had time to play with it. I can't wait, though I missed the importance of a brush. I don't think I have a dense enough brush for this. Now I'm worried. :|
No, use an eyeshadow brush or fingertip to dab it (sparingly) on the areas that need concealing.
Aha! ok. I did brush on my concealer, but not all over, just on the reddish portions. Found out the Ivory and Fair are a bit too brown, but the lightest one didn't do bad.
headspace, if your allergic to any metals, that could be it. Ingredients list
Multi-tasking neutral appears to be the perfect color foundation for me. Winged Butter is far too yellow, a definite miss for me. Not sure yet about Light. I got the Lavender concealer, but the only place I would want to use it is under my eyes and I couldn't get the powder to blend under my eyes, so I ended up wiping most of it off.
