I got my makeup samples already! →[More:]Much sooner than I expected. Bumping for the tips and tricks.

Tiny vats, big brush, having trouble with the right ammount of application, but pleased, esp. with the blush and the mint primer to reduce redness.

I had skin tags removed from my neck a few weeks ago, and have just stepped away from the turtlenecks and high colars - this stuff is perfect to brush over those scars, because the liquid bleeds into clothes.

Too powdery for everyday, unless I can figure out how to use less, but very nice product.

There are holes in the tops, but it seems the product won't shake out, you have to take off the whole top, or maybe I'm lame.

I wonder how they mix with liquid, like to replace a standard powder. Or to use under liquid, like the primer.

So did I!!! I was super-surprised.

I didn't buy one of those Kabuki brushes - can I just use one of my big brushes until I decide whether I like it.

rainbaby - I've heard that powder can go on over liquid - it sets the liquid. But liquid can't really go on top of powder, because it'll clump, I think. I've been watching lots of youtube videos, and most girls seem to put it on over moisturizer or other creams, but never the other way around.

Rainbaby, I think you're supposed to tip the container upside-down when it's closed, allowing the powder to fall into the cap. Then open and tap the brush in the cap.

I can't wait to try the mint concealer thingy.

That makes sense, muddgirl. Over, but not under. I guess I need a mint liquid.

I tried, Specklet, but it seemed the holes weren't open for stuff to fall through. But why are there holes then? I even put the tops I took off under water, and the holes didn't open. Maybe I should try poking with a pin. Hope I don't put an eye out!

I got mine too! Also with holes that aren't...well, holes.

I put cream blush on under it. I'm not sure if I'm a convert, mainly because I'd been going plain faced and it's kind of hard to stop being lazy.

Is there some sort of fine film over the holes that you're supposed to peel off before use?

Probably, I'm too excited about the minty concealer. Probably, I'll be disappointed when it doesn't magically erase the redness around my nose (blast you, allergies) and the broken capillary on my cheek.

No, no film, but a big safety pin opened up the holes. I think you'll like the mint, Specklet.

rainbaby - there IS a film covering the holes - I used a thin knitting needle to poke one open, and it also poked up the film. FYI.

I must be doing the minerals thing wrong! I really want to be a believer. It's this or no makeup at all.

I tried the LOreal brand and it makes me look 15 years older. It makes my pores look a lot larger than I thought they were. The concealer I got to cover my dark circles highlights the creases under my eyes.

From reading the other thread it seems like I need to buy a better brush but I'm afraid to make the investment if it's just not going to work for me.

simbiotic - I read somewhere that if the powder looks cake-like, then the color is too light, and if it enhances your wrinkles and pores, then the color might be too dark. For what it's worth, I saw some knock-off kabuki brushes at Walgreens or CVS for 5 bucks.

I just tried the stuff, and it looked sort of bad at first, but I kept buffing the heck out of it, and it looks a lot better. I'm going to try mixing it slightly lighter, if I dare...

I got my makeup today, too!

There are little circles of film over the holes. I didn't see it at first but then started tilting the pans around in sunlight. I used a pair of scissors to grab the edge of the film and pull it off.

I haven't yet been able to play with my new makeup. (And also, I managed to order to eye shadows that are almost the same. haha.)

I got mine today, too! You wonder if they wondered about a weird spike in orders four days ago? I haven't tried mine yet, I got two different shades of base because I have no idea what shade I should wear anymore. But I can't wait to find out, whee!

I'm thrilled to hear there are clips of mineral makeup application on YT; I fully expect to get the stuff and spend an hour cursing while I try to apply it without getting the full-on Dynasty makeup-mask effect.

I ordered the minty concealer as well! My cheeks are really red normally and I have broken capillaries as well. I'm really hoping it works as advertised.

We didn't check the mail today, but being in Canada it will probably take longer to get to me.

Simbiotic! Thank you! ... I got a L'oreal minerals (True Color) a couple of months ago, and have had exactly the same experience as you. Yucky! I'm older than everybody else (probably), though... but I've been pretty lucky with my skin; my face doesn't normally look wrinkly, dry, or coarse, I think - but that L'oreal certainly makes it look that way. I hate it.

I wouldn't have bought it, actually, because I've heard some bad things about L'oreal minerals, but I was dying to try a minerals foundation because the idea of something nice and light that doesn't rub off, and isn't bad for your skin totally appeals to me (I hate using liquid foundation) - but I guess the minerals craze hasn't really hit Greece and the L'oreal was all I could find. 25 thumbs down.

I bought a little pot of the L'Oreal stuff to use in the office, and it's nowhere near as finely textured as the Bare Escentuals stuff I use at home. I'll use it until it's gone but I won't buy the L'Oreal one again.

I got my makeup last night and will apply today too. (Mine is Isadora brand, L'Oreal's lightest shade was three shades darker than me - sounds like I got lucky there.)

verdict: wow, when did I get this OLD!?
First, it really shows every pore I have and that's fivehundred percent more than I had yesterday, second it's waaaaay dark which really surprised me and looks like I'm wearing a mask. I'm going back to the store because the store clerk helped me pick the color and the sample I tried on my wrist looked way lighter than this can of tan I brought home.

(yeah, being pale sucks. When I was younger i used to add baby powder to all my loose powders.)

I'm going back to mousse foundation. At least that's my color.,

Alrighty, I popped back to the shop to ask if there was anything lighter that I could mix this with, but no dice. I got myself a better brush and will store this away for when I'm "tanned" in the summer instead. I wish I could try that brand you guys are on about, it seems to have much better colors.

Well, today's my first day "out and about" with the stuff on. It is pretty light, but I definitely need a better brush, and I don't think the color is a perfect match. The problem is that my nose and forehead are a different color than my cheeks, and it's hard to find something in-between.

I like it. It's light and blends much better than my mousse foundation.

I think I need a bigger brush, though. I was buffing for FOREVER.

And should I have a different brush each for foundation, concealer, and blush? It seems like they all just sort of... meld and that might not be necessary, although I usually use a different brush for my compact and blush.

I ordered my sample kit today. I'm excited! I'm a bit of a makeup noob though, I don't wear it very often, only for "special occasions" so I'm not really sure I'll be able to tell if it's good or not.

i got both in the mail today and i have to say the signature minerals eyeshadows only come in little plastic coke bags while the foundations are in little plastic pots like all the others, which is kind of a rip off with the higher shipping cost.

That's weird, ethylene --- my Signature Minerals all came in little plastic pots identical (except for logo and cap color) to the Everyday Minerals. (Both samples arrived today, and I squealed a tiny bit when I opened the mailbox!)

on rereading: oh, duh, the eyeshadow! I didn't order any eye color, so no coke bags for me. The blush and concealers did come in plastic pots, incidentally.

Thanks to those who mentioned the film on the canisters. You saved me a lot of frustration!

I'm a little underwhelmed. I'm not whelmed. I'll play more tomorrow, but so far I don't see or feel any difference from my normal foundation. Except that I'm itchy, but I think that's psychosomatic. But if it wears better than liquid foundation + powder, I'll be happy. I will say: the concealer works a treat. I have a little scrape from an encounter with a briar hedge yesterday, and it's completely invisible.
