Bunnystock 3 Bump. Does Atlanta from August 30 to September 6 work for enough people?[More:]

Sorry to bump something from yesterday that's also been side-barred. But it turns out that the place near Atlanta didn't have much availability. Those dates were all I could get, so I went ahead and booked it. I've got until tomorrow night to cancel without penalty.

So what I need to know is whether there is enough interest that place/time to not cancel the reservation. That's the week of Labor Day, from Saturday to Saturday.

There's basically 42 "slots" to fill, meaning the place sleeps 6 for 7 nights. I will get my money back if 20 of the slots are actually taken. Again, I hoping the cost per slot at <$50.

I expect to cancel because people can't really be expected to commit with such short notice...but on the chance folks are like "wow, that's perfect", I'm throwing this out there.
Not for me - Slow Food Nation is that week and I'll be in San Francisco and surrounding areas. But I haven't been able to make the other ones, either, so I'm probably not the one you should plan around.

Is Newport, Rhode Island a good* place for it, Miko?

* Define 'good' in any way you please.

That's the week of Burning Man, and I was thinking/planning to go to Burning Man this year, but nothing has been set in stone.

I can't, but I'm not protesting. I want y'all to have a chance to hang with taz. Like Miko said, we'll have a NE Bunnystock sooner or later.

RI I can do. I can take a long weekend/work from home, even.

We need to go to the video game museum if we're in New England. The one from King of Kong.

Sounds like that weekend works for the fabled West Coast meetup that everyone talks about but no one ever plans, since Miko and TPS might be out here.

It's too far away - time, not distance - for me to commit yet, sorry dano!

Most days work for me. The week (and locations) you have suggested work for me. It looks like it doesn't work for most of the other peeps, so far. I'll let the majority hash out the meetup week and most hopefully I will be able to join y'all.

What Lori said, except for the part about how most days work for me.

Newport would be a good place to have it, as good goes. It's near some gorgeous beaches and that's a gorgeous weekend. It will probably be pretty busy there over Labor Day. Newport is famous for the mansions -- they're outrageous, but fun to check out. As atmospheres go, Newport is pretty, yachty, and affluent in that uptight New England way that will reinforce the stereotypes of some folks (but thankfully, isn't really the 'real' New England). But it's loaded with quaint if you're into that. It's only about an hour from Boston, and very close to Block Island as well (Block Island, now - that's truly truly awesome, and that would be a great place to hang with bunnies).

It sounds like folks are trending toward Atlanta, which is fine, but keep this one in your back pocket.

My travel plans for SF are kinda set, though, so even if y'all were here I can't be there. However, I love the idea of a West Coast meetup.

Maybe we can Bicoastal Bunnystocks.

Ok, now I'm starting to look like an idiot...Newport looks pretty booked too until Octoberish. Alexandria as well.

What *is* available? Orlando, Myrtle Beach, Williamsburg, Hancock Mass (a ski place so offseason), maybe Atlantic City or New Orleans (1 bedrooms). Heh, Branson MO. Should I be looking at places for May or early June rather than late Summer?

Out West, there's Vegas, southern Colorado, Lake Tahoe, Sedona. The logistics of West are just tough. Maybe the timeshare wasn't such a good idea.

Myrtle Beach! Yay! It's so awful it's good!

Branson would be Freaking Trippy. I probably can't go this year, but dang - Branson! It's central! It's strange! I don't know how expensive it could possibly be, but I might be surprised.

Newport did sound great!

I've never been to Myrtle Beach! I'd love to go.

Orlando is super duper convenient, but not that much fun because it is a landlocked tourist trap of hell.

Williamsburg sounds great, too. Never been. Want to go.

Lake Tahoe = gorgeous. The West might be iffy for me. Flights can be crazy expensive.

Don't listen to me though. I'm a little giddy this afternoon for some unknown reason and really, I have no idea what I'll be doing in August and totally dare not commit. Not to mention that I'm always too broke to go anywhere.

Williamsburg is neat (was just there) but would be wicked, wicked hot in August.

Wherever it is, I am going to make it this year - we have no plans for family to come visit us. I'm crazy about the east coast, but have never been to the (southern) west coast. Dano, thank you fot offering your timeshare to us.

Yes, thanks for the offer, dano. It's too bad it looks like it won't work at the moment, but it's a very nice idea.

If anybody has a specific location/date combo they'd like me to check for availability, just met me know. In the meantime, I'll cancel this reservation.
