It wasn't her sex life. She was playing a character. It was the character's sex life. There is a difference, no matter how much society likes to pretend there isn't.

And what did her character do? Talk constantly about sex, sex, sex, and more sex. Is it that much of a leap to imagine that might make guys think about *gasp* having sex with her? because quite frankly, take the ex out of that show and it has zero appeal whatsoever. You can't make a fortune marketing your sex appeal and then be offended when people find yous exually appealing.
(note: I hate Sex In The City and the yuppie crap it represents)
Heh. She's done a decent amount of Broadway musicals, I hope someday she'll want to do one again (although she could never make the kind of money she's making now on Broadway).

What exactly is your point today, jonmc? Or are you just ranting to make yourself heard? All I said was, I feel bad that someone made a sex doll modeled after her, since I can't imagine it's something she would like very much; I know I certainly wouldn't.

OK. But she's not a doll. She's an actual person. The whole conflation of women with sex toys is obnoxious. The comments on the linked post are appalling. I'm not even really sure what this is doing on Metachat. "Sleazy dehumanizing merchandise marketed with stupid pun." Great.

My point is that her entire career is based on a show where her character is all about sex, sex, sex. You can't base your whole career on sex appeal and then get upset when people treat you as a sex object. It's like saying 'look at me! look at me!' and then saying 'what are you looking at?' when people do.
It's not her "entire career"; it's one role, albeit one that launched her into really big things. Honestly, jonmc, I think you're just talking for the sake of talking here, and I wish you'd take it elsewhere, and I think if you respect us, you will.
Oh, I dunno--it's definitely dated-looking, but I think they did a pretty good job of portraying normal teenage girls. (Note: I'm definitely a non-expert.)
1) This is fucking grotesque...
1b) ...and sadly unsurprising, given the fucking grotesque state of our culture.
2) I now have the "Square Pegs, Square Pegs, Square...Pegs!" theme song stuck in my head.
Dated shows can be fun. I never realized how dated Saved by the Bell was until I started watching it again a few weeks ago, but it is- Lisa lusts over Michael Jackson, lol.
No joke, watching Saved by the Bell made me want high-waisted pants. I got some high waisted jeans yesterday, which I am now calling my "Jesse Spano" jeans.
