I'm pretty much with the OxFam spokesperson on this one. I think it's valuable to expand the notion of beauty to include disability, but I think setting it up as a competition is... icky.

Arse, I think you should post to the blue. The idea of "Miss Landmine" is eye-opening. I'm not a fan of beauty pageants, but I love it. Occhiblu's opposite reaction suggests that it would generate lively discussion.

I don't like beauty pagents in general...
this doesn't sit right with me.
Yes, it's wonderful if it helps these women accept themselves and feel pretty. I just think it's going to end up an internet-meme freak show haha look at them sort of joke.
