Putting on a metachat show in the fall. Like in a space like a gallery show. Maybe looking for a place in June. Interested?[More:]It makes me set a date to have some kind of show since it's been so long, with kind of a theme for people to make or show things, small things.

It can relate to bunnies, pink bunnies, on a hillside, metachat, get it?
Craft and token objects for sale (maybe for a fund?) and maybe also a year of the rat, 12, new cycle theme as well, but whatever. Zines, comics, buttons, swapsies pile, with some online presence so anyone can participate and enjoy.
Maybe a side zine mecha in review.
Assistance is very welcome.

This will be my mission for the year.
What say ye, mechacreatures?
I paint. Can I send over big-arse canvases unstretched to be streched? Or is streched better?

i think it depends on how big a space ends up being used, so it's a possibility.

I feel like a total liar now, usually I just grab a wall. I prefer walls

Maybe a good slide could serve as a projection.

What would be cool is to get some empty space in a major place for a meet up and just have it up a week weeks.

dabitch, that is so. cool.

few weeks
or week/weeks

It would force me to document things anyway, for good or bad.
What about a tiny side art show just on the web all for sale and then everyone could take their own pictures and use put them together, and send it to the buyer.

That is just stunning, dabitch. I'm in awe of the talent on this site.

We could have a wallpaper/stencil slide show on one wall.

*reads post, nodding, getting kinda excited about idea, and blown away by dabitch's talent, and then...*

dabitch that is FANTASTIC. did you start with a blank wall, or did you project an image & trace & paint or freehand or what?

I make "video art" and would be glad to send a dvd with a piece created specifically for this show.

I think this is a great idea.

I have zero artistic talent, but I would come to admire.

I'm in. I'll dip myself in pink paint and lay on a model hillside, if nothing else.

I guess I could make prints of the Concrete Bunny Army.

What elizard said, sort of, or, will you take stuff that's already done or, well, huh, maybe, yeah, I need to do some work, okay, I'm in.

Note: I am not now, nor have I ever been, an artist. I will, however, make every effort to come and gaze in wonder upon the work of our talented bunnies, and participate in the smoking section choir of nonsensical shouting.

Dude, I had no idea dabitch was a girl! I mean, considering that I use the word "bitch" as a epithet for guys, too...

Um, I'd be willing to donate a zine or two, and perhaps finally make a little pocket bunny. Hey, there's an idea... have a "craft table" where people can make bunnies to be a part of the collection as well?

Would also be willing to write a monologue, too.

Dabitch is all woman, and a couple of guys and a little girl.

When i get back later i'll sort this out more but i wanted to add in case it wasn't clear that the physical space doesn't have to be in any one particular area, since for me all transportation is going to involve some level of cost and kindness.
So where is this year's big meet up? Maybe we put it there.
Chicago? Baltimore? Asheville? Portland? Maine?
Any empty store fronts or wall space to be reserved near you? Libraries? Chicken shacks?
Any place low on regulations and high on whimsy?
How much of this is going to be online and open participation?
Low costs, hi jinks, etc.

Chew on that as i preside over some twisted grilling.

I am interested in this. Just let me know what size thing you want me to send.

A zine (print, I mean) would be really neat, too. I'd be willing to help with that.

Is this really happening? Let me know, eh? I'll try to come up with something.

Here's a bit of an update or state of affairs summary as far as "really happening":

i'm still fine and happy with the idea of shouldering the work of putting together a group show for the chaterie, but people seem unclear on points and i've (of course) had life erect some obstacles for me personally.

For one, my mother and brother are flying to Korea on Mayday, which irrationally bothers me because i kept thinking about it, even though there are lots of actual aspects i could be concerned about.
For another, i've run into a space and materials impairments as far as my own work is concerned so i'm not even sure what medium i want to focus on-- maybe more on that later--

For people unaware of how this process breaks down in this case, it was suppose to go a little like this: Some place that already shows art or has space is often booked up well in advance, so the idea of putting on a real life show in an established "art space" within a matter of months is usually out of the question. What young and impoverished artists of many stripes use to do is to just find a space, any space, to use for the duration of display.
Empty store fronts, closed businesses, unused space in any public space-- there is a reason artists are the first step to revitalizing burnt out underdeveloped hulls discarded and eschewed by others. The post apocalyptic city empty of day workers or life in general is great for being space.
Hell, parking garages can be great space.
Any space that can be controlled for the duration is great space.
A decently sized apartment is a great space.

Now, most people in a position to choose a space would try to find the one most fitting to their work. i wanted to somewhat let the space dictate aspects of the show, so it'd be different if it was in a barn rather than as salon in someone's home.
Initially i was thinking that if nothing else i would co-opt some hallways and walls somewhere but optimally i wanted a space somewhere more accessible to other mechatters so we could have some sort of proper opening.
The big problem there is without a competent spot person at the location, i'd have to do the scouting and arranging work in person, which means travel costs and time to try and negotiate.

Honestly, i wanted an extra motivating reason to get my own ass in gear with documentation, web presence and work, but i'd be happy to do it just for the sake of putting together a metachat show, whose major aspect i thought would be online, more crafty, for sale, and with effort on the part of the participants.
Thinking about a metachat show made me think far more of doing a bit of a metachat in review in part, and i want people to understand that outside of the user generated for sale part not everything offered would be chosen and anything in the past would be cleared with the creator before being used.

So, before i go on, those are just a few of the things that are involved and i was hoping to have help in aspects from willing peoples.

What i'd like right now is for whoever is interested in any way to send me an email titled "chatshow" so i know who is willing and wanting to be involved in any manner: patron, participant, cheerleader, angel, web savvy, web spaced, spaced, wanna say hi, etc.

i'll write more that is more focused in a little bit if i don't have to run off for several hours.

i still think it's a great idea and would be happy to be the curating mean person who has to do most of the unseemly bits.
