Do we have a photo Friday theme? If not, may I suggest ... [More:]

... as it's been the topic of conversation this last few hours ...

Flowers!

Favourite flowers, flowers you have in your house, ones you've seen somewhere, any kind, all kind of flowers.

I just thought it would be nice to have a thread about flowers that won't (hopefully) become contentious, because they're such beautiful things.
The snow yesterday probably killed all of mine, but I'll have a look outside. ;) damn march weather!

The scheduled theme according to the wiki is 'feet' but it could doubtless be rescheduled if enough people like the flowers idea. And, while I've no pictures of feet handy, I do have flower-pictures I could post, so it would suit me.

I'll start. At the moment I have two vases of flowers. One is a bunch of flame-coloured freesia I bought at the supermarket last week. I've never seen them that colour before, they're normally yellow or purple. Their fragrance is amazing.

On Monday a friend came for lunch and she brought me two bunches of what I thought were daffodils but which are, in fact, narcissus. (The difference, in case you're wondering, is that daffodils are all one shade of yellow, and narcissus are paler yellows with orange centres.)

I could only find one vase that would fit them, an ancient thing that's fit for the bin, and it was a squeeze to get them in. But when they opened, the tight vase made the blooms have a 'posy' effect which I really like.

I like flowers, and usually grab a bunch at the supermarket. Spring flowers are gorgeous, my particular favourites being tulips and hyacinth (for their incredible fragrance). I love the few weeks of the late spring when the bluebell woods are in bloom, the scent of the flowers is incredible.

yep, the snow killed all flowers outside. Dang. So here's the most recent bunch that I bought, approx six years ago.

Why look at this! My Feet picture has flowers! (Although I love the Scar Jo Feet theme and hope someone starts that thread if they have anything. I like how my shadow "ruins" a perfectly good meaningful/meaningless picture of my feet.)

This looks like it was taken out west, but it's really just a few miles from my house:

A hibiscus that's my best macro shot of anything, ever (and it was total luck):

And may I say, y'all's photos in this thread so far are all just awesome. I really love rainbaby's feet and eek's orchid.

(and casarkos, those orchids are stunning. I can't stop looking at them. I'm beginning to suspect that they were sent by space aliens to mesmerize all Earthlings thus paving the way for the coming takeover and harvest.)

No photoshop - this is a real bouquet of flowers taken with a digital camera while pointed through the lens of an old duaflex.

Another ttv (through the viewfinder) - I'm holding the duaflex and you can see the shot I'm going after through its viewfinder. This was taken at night in front of a florist's refrigerator full of lime green Fuji mums that looked like they were glowing in the dark.

I love roses, but only when they're growing. They lose something special once they're cut.

I feel the same way about roses (it's like they loose their soul!) - if I ever move to a climate that can keep roses, I'm planting my whole garden full.

That and sunflowers. Gosh, those sunflower and bee shots are stunning!
