Step Into My Bedroom. . . and, if you will, offer some advice[More:] on an area rug that we need. We had had green wall to wall carpet but the cats got out of control and would not stop peeing in there.

So now, we are thinking in terms of a bound piece of carpet, about 3x5 or a bit larger, and are lost on a color.

Red, black and yellow are pretty much the colors. We also have a different spread on the bed occasionally.

(Wife gave me that Jetson's lamp for Christmas one year, for a reading light on my side of the bed. . .don't say anything about it, please.)

Thank you for your time on this.
At the risk of being obnoxious, I'm going to give you some advice that you didn't ask for.

The yellow curtains don't go very nicely with the reds you got going on in there. I'd replace them with a neutral cream or ecru.

Maybe something with both yellow and red? I feel like pretty much anything here would work. (Unless, of course, you don't like oriental-style carpets.)

I think, overall, I'd go toward the rust/gold spectrum, to kind of tie the red and yellow together and stay on the warm side, which tends to look nice with hardwood floors, I think.

I think this would be very cool, but it's probably too big.

If I can piggyback a question... why are rugs so expensive? covering a third of my living room floor would be as much as a month's rent! nutty.

I like taz's Persian rug selection, but given your three colours...

Do you like Mondrian. May clash with the wall hanging, look out.//
Depends if you like soft or knubbly on your feet like a Sisal Rug.
Ikea has cheap and cheerful. Subtle Indo style, there are 32 pages of rugs there... good luck, George. [Sorry, couldn't resist since you mentioned it, the lamp's ok]

oops, that was occhiblu's Persian selection, meant to say.

Well we had a solid color in mind ..a piece of plush or something like that. It should be a bit softer. . I removed the dog's bed, for the pic, but she does sleep in there, and sometimes spills over onto whatever carpet is in there.

All of the above are wonderful ideas, though. The yellow curtains, I like, in that any scant light that comes in during winter is made cheery. That counts for something.

I love FLOR tiles. They are so practical and can be made in size you desire.

Check out some from the solid list.

Textures are beautiful as well. On the Lamb, Wide Wale. I love them all!

The tiles can be hosed off if you have a spill. The clean beautifully. I just scrubbed two of my tiles in the bathtub because one of my kids spilled root beer. They are good as new.
