Follow up to this comment - I saw the Pogues in Baltimore last night.→[More:] It was incredible. I completely disagree with what Washington Post said about their show in DC on Sunday.

Shane MacGowan has this stage presence that is just exhilarating. I had prepared myself to see him wheeled out and incoherent, but he walked out and was just as charming as can be. Go see them if you get a chance!

You know, The Pogues are one of those bands I've never really listened to . . . but after reading your MetaFilter comment, and this, I just might grab a few tunes and check it out.

I would give my right arm to see them before he kicks it.
For some reason something always happens whenever they're anywhere even remotely near me that keeps me from going. So I think, well, as long as I haven't seen them yet, he can't die yet.

When I was in high school the It's Academic coach lamented to me about what a shame it was that the Pogues had broken up because I would have enjoyed them. I didn't actually get into them until I married a man with all their albums. It was actually the live journal celebrity-watching community that clued me into the fact that they were touring.

And yeah, go see them before Shane kicks it!
