Do other people get a creeping sense of dread whenever actors who played evil nasties on The X-Files or Buffy show up on other shows? What makes it worse is that I normally can't identify why I'm getting totally creeped out until about halfway through whatever new show they're in, and by that point I already feel like my skin is trying to crawl off and hide in a closet and I can't stop glancing nervously over my shoulder and OMG CREEPED OUT.
I get that whenever I see Nicholas Lea from the X-Files in something. I have this terrible dread that I'll randomly pass him on the street one day, and I'll instinctively pounce, yelling, "Krycek!!" and strangers will have to drag me off him.

Well, I loeved it when Spike showed up on Torchwood and made out with Captain Jack! Also, it's kind of disconcerting when somebody you've seen elsewhere turns up as a random defendant on Law & Order. Who in particular has been recycled from Buffy lately?

Nick Chinlund was just on an Law & Order rerun, and I don't remember him from Buffy but I think he qualified as one of the creepiest people ever on X-Files. There's just something about his voice that makes all the hair on my neck stand up. In a VERY BAD WAY.

And I think part of it is that my "former X-Files actors" and "former Buffy actors" categories completely overlap in my head (with the exception of the main characters). The alerts for "creepy supernatural evil thing! RUN!" start going off for either.

Science Girl was a big X-Files fan; she says she gets a little creeped out when I'm watching the Canucks play and the announcer mentions Lukas Krajicek's name. I usually say something about Black Oil at that point.

Krajicek has been injured most of this season, though, so it hasn't come up that much lately.

The guy who played Rack and the psychotic vampire was horribly wasted in his one X files episode. There's always some cross over and i always try to figure out where i've seen people unless they are very good.
i always hope Nicholas Brendon is employed but i never catch him.

I remembered Rack from China Beach- he was one of my favorite characters back when that was on.

Not for buffy actors but I could never watch Ernst-Hugo Järegård in anything at all after seeing him depict a crazy serial-killers in skånska mord. He even did commercials for the post-office that made me stop buying stamps for a year!

There's always some cross over

There's also some crossover from Buffy/Angel and (of all things) The West Wing, though I can't think of any examples at the moment. May just be a side effect of big ensembles with lots of small guest parts every week, but it does amuse me.

Thanks, dabitch. Now I have another face to be creeped out by.

Sigh. And *shiver*. And *hide*.

if what you say is accurate, occhiblu, you watch WAY too fucking much television.

you would say that, q., having played a half-man-half-fish character who spits on his victims to dissolve them into puddles of slime.

I first saw David Thewlis on Prime Suspect which means that in my mind the poor guy will be forever skeevy as f*ck.

That's what you get for being a good actor!

I like David Thewlis as an actor, but honestly, he looks pretty skeevy most of the time.

I laughed and laughed when I read on Jumped the Shark that for one poster, X-Files jumped when he saw Cancer Man buying plastic flip-flops in a Zellers in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

I saw Rhea Perlman on Law & Order a few weeks ago. She was actually rather convincing, though it was a thankless task to try to get past the "Carla" image. And they had to show a shot of her walking with the rather tall Diane Neal, which was pretty funny - nearly a foot's height differential.

What's really fun is seeing formerly unknown actors on old Law & Order episodes. In the very first season there's one in which Cynthia Nixon plays a defendent. She had baaaad eighties hair and it took me awhile to recognize her. Then when Chris Noth was bringing her into the precinct office, George Dzunda looks up from his paperwork and says, "Has she been Miranda'd?"

Law & Order is a great show for that. One of my favorite examples: before he became part of the regular cast, Jerry Orbach appeared on L & O as a lawyer a few times.

Miami Vice is good for that, too.

For me it's Oz and Vern Schillinger and Chris Keller. *shudder*

Michael Rooker. He's been in a lot of stuff, but he'll always be Henry to me. Very human, very flawed and very evil. very, very.
