Campaign finance law: can I donate money?[More:]I am an employee of an engineering firm which does contract work with both the US govt. as well as commercial firms. Does this section of the US Code relating to "Federal government contractors" mean that I can't donate money to an election campaign? Or just that my employers can't?
I think that so long as you yourself never filled out a contract, you're in the clear.

See #5 under "Legal Compliance" on this page.

(It was the first link I found. No endorsement implied.)

Ah, thanks mudpuppie. Other campaign cont. sites just say, "Confirm that you are not a Federal government contractor".

The contractor is the entity named in the contract, and not any of its employees or subcontractors.

Also, "if payment for the performance of such contract or payment for such material, supplies, equipment, land, or building is to be made in whole or in part from funds appropriated by the Congress".

So, are you going to make a contribution from funds appropriated to you by the Congress? I don't think so.
