Dog is gone. I'm sad. [More:]New landlord said no to pets. I guess it's ok, 'cause the dog was a lot of trouble. My partner just arrived many miles away at his mother's house, delivering the dog to the dog's original owner.

When I walked into the apartment tonight, half of me still expected to be greeted by the dog -- not only was I not greeted, I saw his doggy bed lying empty in the kitchen.

Heard from my partner not too long ago. Both partner and dog thankfully survived the flight without too much difficulty, and the dog is apparently happy as can be being back at his prior home.

Sigh. As an introvert, I often long for time alone, but this is one of those rare moments when I wish I weren't alone.

Here 's photo of the dog.

As if the dog being gone wasn't enough to make me teary-eyed! Is there an emoticon that consists of a smiley + a teardrop? If so, I'd use it now.

Here's photo of the dog.

That is clearly a person; no dog I know would be caught dead wearing a hat like that. Bring that person back to live with you.

NOW.

Oh, that is VERY hard, treepour.

I am happy that the dog is still alive and happy. From the title of your post I thought it was an RIP doggie post. There is some joy in knowing your dog is happy and cared for.

But it's still sad to be without that good friend. My sympathies.

treepour, I'm so sorry. I feel for you.

I've been reading a lot of dog books and the experts (Patricia McConnell) says that most dogs transition well from one owner to the next if they are being taken care of.

Thanks so much, all. Your comments and waggy dog tails have really helped. :'-)

I heard from my partner last night, and he said the dog seemed very happy to be reunited with my partner's mom, which made me feel better.

The dog food bowl is still in the kitchen though -- I can't bring myself to wash it and put it away just yet.

Someone disposed all of my old cat's things without my knowledge, and i still miss his fish toy that looked like a fuschia Don Knotts.
