Also, it's a little annoying whem pple who don't hang out here talk about MetaChat on MetaTalk. I feel like, if they want to talk about us, they should come over here. But only if they bring cookies.

Well, there's only three direct references to Metachat in that thread, that I saw; I made one of 'em, there was another by dersins, who is definitely a regular here, and the third was from Baby_Balrog, who has an account though he doesn't seem to use it a whole lot.
So while I can dig the sentiment (and further agree with the no-cross-site-drama notion), I don't think that was really going on in this case; as much as anything the double-posting of snark to both threads strikes me as weirder. wendell's standing in the mefi usernumber race matters here why?, etc.

I meant in general, cortex. Of course, you're much more aware of what's going on over there. And what do I have to do to get someone to bring me a cookie!
Oh crap. Five minutes after I post my bwahahahahas, my internet access goes down... I finally get it back up mere minutes before the scheduled beginning of my Reign of Terror, and I learn that pb, the MeFi Breeder of Ponies, is #191. So nevermind.
And cortex, it matters because, well, it's almost impossible to find your user number HERE, so anything involving a 'pecking order' HAS TO default to the MotherofallMetas... And, yeah, I've always defined jonmc as "the dude with the lower user number than me" no matter where I encounter him. It's just me.
And I am confident that jonmc's hiatus from the MetaVerse will not be longer than quonsar's, EB's, MPDSEA's... and IRFH will return sooner than you expect. Because none of them are strong enough to stay away... none of them are Portuguese.
And what do I have to do to get someone to bring me a cookie! Check your email. I apologize if it's crumby.
As for jonmc..... I dunno, I thought he was one of the most brillant luminaries in the metaworld at one time. The schtick got old. Frankly, I haven't read anything he's written for a long time. I mean, you can only read about homeless people coating books with bodily fluids so many times before it goes all... meh.
Just to chime in with cortex, there is no additional MeFi drama about this particular topic that I know about. Just a bad day all around that happened to spill over on to both sites.
I don't think y'all need to worry about Jon. If he needs a break, he needs a break - no big deal. Jon had a Glug day on metachat and started taking over posts in which people wanted to talk about something other than his opinions, which wasn't good. I told him to stop, so he's probably mad at me, but I can live with that.
About Metafilter, I have no idea. But, yeah, if you're getting upset and angry on metachat or metafilter, the best thing to do is back away from the computer - so a break is probably a good idea.
A year and a half or two years back, I was seriously and quietly working on a whole Metafilter Album, like 12 songs hitting on some of the big themes of Mefi specifically and of social-web-forum-community stuff in general.
And one of those songs is I'm Leaving (And I'm Never Coming Back), and it's one of the better prospects from that whole project—sort of catchy little sad pop ballad thing—and every once in a while I get the hankering to just sit down and record it. And then someone will close their account and I'll feel all, huh, well, timing-wise that might seem sort of weird.
