A message for Hadjiboy:→[More:] You're a good guy; keep doing what you're doing.
God, you gave me a heart attack--I'd come here to post something about my mom and I see my name on the front page. (Mind if I ask you what brought on this outpouring of goodwill?):)
Not that I don't appreciate it, but it's so unexpected. (I actually feel sorry sometimes that I might be bothering you guys with all of my... bullshit (for lack of a better word), and always regret hitting the post button after writing something, so it's good to know I'm not making a mistake.)
It's my mom's _6th birthday today, and my sister and I'd gotten two cards for her yesterday night when we'd gone to take the cat to the vet. She didn't expect it. I always end up putting the cards where she can see them so that it's the first thing she lays her eyes on when she gets up the next morning. But I was really tired yesterday and so didn't do the card thing until I'd woken up. Mom was already awake, and when I went into the kitchen and asked her what she was doing she said she was going to sit down and pray, so I went and put the cards on top of the Quran. She was surprised. Next, I decided I was going to do three things for her which she'd been asking me to do for a long time as a sort of a birthday gift for her--from me to her.
1. I took out everything that she'd been asking me to get rid of (all the junk that had been piled up over the years) and sell it off. Most of it was the usual stack of papers that gets collected and needs to be chucked every six months or so, but there were also these metal objects and wires and stuff that my mom wanted me to get rid of. Of the metal objects--were these four chandeliers that had become obsolete, and my mother wanted me to remove the crystal and glass shards from them so that only the metal frame remained, and we could then sell it off. Easy enough--I sat down with a pair of pliers and started doing the job. Fifteen minutes to half an hour later, I look down at my hands and they're covered with blood. Funny, I didn't feel a thing. I go and wash out my hands and the only cuts seem to be on the thumbs, which I was using to push and pull the crystals out of their sockets.
Anyway, another half an hour or so later, I was done. Took another half an hour to load everything up into the car, and go to the the place where they buy all of this stuff off of you (it's right beside my house), and had everything unloaded. Made around 500 bucks, and was home in another half an hour or so. Gave 300 Rupees to my sister, who's going to get a bouquet on her way back home from college and is also planning to treat the two of us to lunch with the money that she's saved up. So that's two things that my sister's taking care of.
2. I have to take the car in for another two things as well--No. 1 I have to get rid of the black film that we'd had pasted on the windows of the car so as to not let the harsh sunlight in (especially during the summer season), and unfortunately, we're supposed to have it removed because of a law that was passed over here recently and we have till the end of this month to do it, so basically tomorrow is the last day (I'm such a slacker!).
No. 2 is that I have to take the car in for servicing; it's making this weird noise. This car is the same car that both of my sisters, and mum, learned to drive on. So it's not in the best of shape, but it's a good car, and it's never given out on us yet. My mom wants to sell it off, and buy a new one, but I've kind of grown attached to it.
3. I also have to get one of the window panes fixed which some jerk kids broke a few days ago. There's a glass shop just round the corner so that won't be too hard.
That's it--my birthday presents for my mum. Hope she likes 'em.
I was going to do three things for her which she'd been asking me to do for a long time
Sometimes these are really the best kinds of presents. The 'Languages of Love' stuff can seem silly and gimmicky sometimes, but I'm definitely one of those that thinks actions speak loudest. When people do things they know will make me feel happy, thought about, and taken care of, I am warmed. These 'gifts' are the kinds of things that -- well, who else would do them from love? Nice going, hope she had a nice day!
hadjiboy, you are one good fella.
I've also seen pictures of you from flickr, and boy, if I was in your age range and vicinity, you'd be in trouble. ;-)
Awww, thanks lilywing. You know, you don't HAVE to be in my age range;)
Oh wait, does the 13 imply that you're 13 years old??? Well, in that case, um, yeah, we better not, at least until you're eighteen, and by that time I'll be way too old for you... sad, no?
Speaking of photographs, my sister sent me three recent ones of hers (and her husband), one of hers and her best friend's and another one of Sushmita (her friend) and her. They're both standing in front of the NEW car that she purchased. It's a Honda Civic I think, and she couldn't wait to tell me about how it's the best car in the market or whatever. I was happy for her. She had her eyes set on a mini cooper, but it was outside her budget she said. Otherwise, you know--she'd practically be living in her car, so it's good in a way she didn't get it...
I'll add the pictures to flickr so that you guys can see em.
In case that sounded like I may have been trying to show off, I only wanted to convey that she's been there for only three years now and has already made such a good life for herself. My sister's already gotten work, right after finishing her MA, and she's earning even more than my Brother-in-Law, who's doing his residency. So, I'm really proud of her.
Mind if I ask you what brought on this outpouring of goodwill?
Hahahahaha! I honestly can't remember the specific trigger, although there was one. I just remember reading some of your stuff recently, and comparing it to some of the stuff you've written in the past, I I just think you've grown a lot in your time among the bunnies. And I thought you might appreciate a little encouragement and positive feedback.
