Four inexplicably interesting photographs of Hillary Clinton (from Wonkette)
→[More:]
I'm not interested in Wonkette's commentary, nor in the rest of the Wonkette comment thread. But I haven't found these photographs hosted anywhere else.
After staring at them I'm convinced I will never have a good idea of the circumstances under which they were shot--sure, they give me lots of clues, but somehow all those clues are still not enough. How did these images come to be? Why have we never seen images like them before, and why are we seeing them now? (These photos were taken on Sunday.)
It might be that I find them interesting because even though her facial expressions in the first two are clearly artificial, these are also the most, well,
genuine photos of Clinton I can recall seeing, and they don't seem (all that) calculated. (She actually seems like she's spontaneously striking those poses--you get the feeling that when cameras aren't around she does this kind of thing all the time.) Is it just because of the hooded yellow sweatshirt, with its sleeves that are a bit too long? Or is it because the people surrounding her give her a context that she wouldn't have if she were alone in the images?
