Does anyone here have access to The Lancet medical journal? My school library doesn't seem to have recent copies online, and I'm trying to confirm how the research was done in one of the articles they published this month.
I explained that badly. The article I want is online, but my library's subscription is a couple months behind.

I emailed the PDF to the hotmail address in your profile. Hope it's what you wanted.

You might have tried this already, but I found that although thelancet.com didn't allow me to download the full text, ScienceDirect did. It does require your school to subscribe, though.

Thank you!!! Kisses and whuffles!!!

(I have a critique of the study, but the critique has no citations, and I can't tell exactly where she's getting the info she's critiquing, because she keeps bringing in other studies and I'm trying to stick to that one.)

And yeah, I saw the ScienceDirect link, but my school does not seem to subscribe (or, if it does, it wasn't evident how to log in).

Again, thanks!!!

Huh. I'm going to have to dl that now. Although I'm currently reading this similarly scary little offering.

gaspode, the critique I'm reading is saying that the researchers threw out all studies that showed no correlation between BMI and cancer, and didn't report on the cancers that seem to correlate with low BMI. So I wouldn't get scared just yet. :-)

oh yeah? Fuck, how does stuff like that even get published? If I threw out data that didn't agree with my hypotheses, I'd get kicked out of my institution.

To be fair, the article authors did mention the low-BMI cancers, they just hid them at the back and did the "worth further study" thing, after spending eight page talking about how FAT EQUALS DEATH!!!!
