Music that makes you move! [More:]I need ideas for upbeat music that makes you want to move it. I have everything from Social Distortion to the Gap Band on my iPod, but I need more ideas. I just bought Kon Kan's I Beg Your Pardon (YouTube). Older peeps, do you remember this song?! :)

Please tell me your favorite music to exercise to. Thanks! I know we've had a thread about this before, but I haven't tried to find it. I thought I would ask your current favorites.
My old fallback is Fat Boy Slim.

Which is kinda funny, I only see the subliminal name thing now that I type it.

Gnarls Barkley gets me moving pretty consistently too.

N*E*R*D, particularly some of the remixes, are my running music of late.

Fat Boy Slim and Chemical Brothers, seconded. I have a huge exercise playlist and the songs I play over and over are Bombs Over Baghdad and Hey Ya by Outkast, anything by Fat Boy Slim (especially Funk Soul Brother and that Christopher Walken one), something or other by Gorillaz that I love, and Move Your Feet by Junior Senior.

This is one of my all-time favourite workout tracks. "I Know A Place" by Kim English.

Thanks guys for the recommendations. I own some of what has been mentioned. I've been buying a ton or your suggestions! I need these suggestions and reminders because I am terribly un-hip and I forget some of the songs I used to love ("Call on Me" for instance, thanks eamondaly!) Essexjan, thanks for the download. "I Know A Place" does not seem to be for sale on iTunes.

Electro (Just try to refrain from doing the robot in the middle of the gym).
Little Computer People.
Ladyflash.
I was surprised how well old 60s soul and stuff like early Beatles (I Wanna Hold Your Hand, Saw Her Standing There, etc.) worked when it came up on shuffle. That stuff has an unmatched energy to it that got lost somewhere down the line.
Shuffle is good cuz stuff comes up that you wouldn't normally consider but works.

Some stuff I've been listening to while jogging lately:

Agreed as to some Beatles (Please Please Me, Hey Bulldog; weirdly, Across the Universe works well too, for me, owing to its other-worldliness, rather than its tempo).
Also Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Sh-Boom by the Chords, etc.
Funny Little Frog, For the Price of a Cup of Tea by Belle and Sebastian.
More or less anything by the Hives (Die All Right, Antidote, Abra Cadaver).
Some Stiff Little Fingers (Fly the Flag, Suspect Device).
Gates of the West by the Clash.
Friends, It's Gonna Be a Long Night by Ween.

I listen to a lot of funk and old-school hip-hop while exercising. And, along the lines of hellbient's suggestion, Motown Motown Motown.

Got home, went through ipod for running mixes.

Curtis Mayfield shows up quite a bit, too.

Ooh, Curtis Mayfield. Good call, 'pode. Much of the Impressions' stuff is similarly soulful and inspiring.

(And if you ever decide you like crack-rap, there's a song by Bun B called 'Keep on Pushin'--the remix features Jay-Z, Young Jeezy and, natch, the obvious Mayfield sample.)

Thanks guys! Hellbient, I love Ladyflash. That was the last post I read last night. I will have to do some more downloading today when I get home. I like Curtis Mayfield too. Good reminder, gaspode! I agree about old school hip-hop and oldies. I have a lot of Motown, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Troggs, Kinks, etc. I do wish the Beatles were on iTunes. It's very inconvenient they aren't!
