Looking for poker in all the wrong places. Does anyone play at any online places like pokerparty.net or something like it? Would you recommend any? I've seen ads for so many that I don't know where to start. My husband wants to graduate from his little hand held poker game and his nintendo 64 game to playing actual people.
I've played at Triplejack.com a few times - the Jayisgames poker nights are held over there. I haven't been able to take part in these recently, though, as they've changed the tournament format and I've never been able to be there on time.

Hey that looks fun. It might be a good gateway to those satellite poker sites - the ones affiliated with the Vegas tv shows.

FullTiltPoker.NET is play money poker, up to 9 to a virtual table. Good for casual play or practice and there's a little chat box attached to each table - most of the time unused, otherwise either trading trash talk or inside jokes among players who already know each other. I'm OneSwellFoop when I go there (I'm up over 100K in fake bucks) and my icon is a garden gnome (a fun variety of icons available). And if you want to get serious, it seems easy to get set up at the real money .COM site, but I haven't tried since a MeCha tournament many months ago. Several top pro players are affiliated with the site and they include mini-lessons in their emailings so I let 'em thru my filter.

I love ultimatebet. I have been there since 2003. They have freeroll tournaments (no buy-in, they're free) that pay actual cash into the accounts of those who place. That money can then be used on money tables. We're only talking $7 max but that's more than enough for nickel games. Or, they will mail you a check (I think the minimum withdrawal is $10).
