28 wrong things? The illustration inside is supposed to have 28 things wrong with it. I've come up with a possible 15 - 16 so far. →[More:]

How many can we find together? (I'll link to the site where I found it after we've had our fun; I haven't checked the comments there to see how many they got.)

Are you going to read Natsuo Kirino's new book "Grotesque"? I saw it's out in the bookstores the other day. I recalled you liked "Out".

1. Gate shadow in wrong direction (cf farmer, cottage).
2. Gate has five bars; shadow has four.
3. Gate has no hinges.
4. One sheep has a large black tail.
5. Horse ploughing while hay is harvested: two seasons at once.
6. Some bare trees in summer.
7. Cottage chimney doesn't have a shadow.
8. Judging from the trees, prevailing wind is from right, but smoke blowing as if wind from left (bit tenuous).
9. Dog has the legs of a sheep.
10. Back wheel of hay cart has no spokes.
11. Doorstep with no door on cottage.
12. Sheep at front lacking a front-left leg.
13. Tall tree has two different leaf colours.

17. Cart behind house has only 1 wheel
18? Cart also only has 1 "puller thing" (don't know the name for it)
19? Most distant hill is darker rather than lighter in color (I'm also bothered by that light blue hill/lake/whatever.

Dog walking wrong with legs on same side going forwards and backwards at the same time instead of alternate legs. (Hope that makes sense - I know what I mean)

There is no 'boundary' on the right-hand side of the lake, i.e. no hill. It would drain away in reality.

The farmer is taller than the house. He wouldn't fit in it.

The shadow of the gate should be straight, not wavy, because the surface it's cast upon appears to be smooth.

So, how many did we get? Surely all, and then some. I think all mine were mentioned, though I did wonder about that tree that has one wrong branch; the majority of it seems to be a Lebanon Cedar, which grows in the Mediterranean (around here, for example), and the place seems not to be like that, with the thatched cottage, for example... Not sure.

Okay, the link is here. I still haven't read the reader comments there to see if they got anything we didn't. I doubt it!

Oh, yeah, there is one I noticed not mentioned here (I think?): it's an impossible road. Look how it lines up with the house, the fence, etc. A kind of Escheresque sort of thing going on there.

The dog's shadow is in front of him instead of behind him.
The haystacks and the trees in the field are not affected by the wind.
The artist drew the picture *way* too small.
The man looks hideous in jodhpurs.
