Feliz Navidad A few Christmas favorites to brighten your holiday spirits, and to listen to while you wait for the kids to fall asleep - the little insomniacs, why aren't they as tired as their father:
Put the Loot in the Boot Santa - Mae West
Silent Night - Tom Waits
and of course, Fairytale of New York - The Pogues

and to finish it out a couple of wonderful numbers (youtube) by Spiraling from Glen Burtnik's recent Christmas extravaganza:
Feliz Navidad - (with Debby Harry)
Nut Rocker

Merry Christmas all!
'Silent Night' used to knock me out cold as a kid. I'd be laying in bed on the 23rd...

Yes. I said 23rd. We do the Danish thing and open presents on the 24th after supper, so Santa made a special early trips for me.

... So I'd be laying in bed with the radio on to help me stay awake, trying to stay up to catch Santa. Then that song would come on, and I'd be out like a light. The long "Siiiiiiii-" still sometimes makes me yawn.

Bonus: I'm now the proud owner of a pound of homemade marzipan, coated in chocolate and studded with almonds. Because I found the first-prize whole almond in the ris a l'amande. Go me!

I've been saving all the MeCha Christmas music into a folder and have had it playing all morning. It's been lovely, really great, a fabulous mix of old and modern, familiar and new. I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

Thank you everyone who's posted music these last few weeks.
