Shoes! I bought these shoes the other day (on sale! Woo!), and I'm wearing them today. They make me happy. I feel like a five-year-old.
Can we start a collection of the rare shoes that make us size-10 women feel cute and not like we're walking around with little barges on our feet? The big shoe blog? Or the bigfoot support group?

Hee. My college roommate was 5'1" (I'm 5'10"). She once said, "When I see your shoes on your feet, they look regular size. But when I see your shoes around the apartment, I think 'Oh my god, those are huuuuuuuuuge shoes.'"
Now that I think about it, maybe she was just trying to get me to pick up my shoes...
But I think the trick is staying away from pointy toes. I like pointy-toed shoes, and I have a few pairs, but I definitely notice that I get that "Hey, cute feet!" feeling only from rounded-toe shoes.
I like rounded-toe shoes, and I do wear them, but given that I'm 5'1" I have to reckon with the fact that they make my feet look ridiculously non-existent. Almost like hooves, in fact. Especially if the shoes have any kind of heel at all.
(And Miko, whenever my Fluevogs come up in conversation I, too, rush to explain that I didn't pay anything close to full price for them.)
It's funny how much innocent pleasure one can get from a nice pair of shoes.
They are also ridiculously comfortable -- lots of padding and arch support and a very flexible sole. Which is probably why they make me want to bounce around.
Cool shoes, occhi! I love wearing new favourite shoes. It puts a grin on one's face and a spring in one's step, no?

I concur. (I'm a size 11.) I find that some kind of heel helps make them look shorter, and have stopped worrying about being too tall at 5'11" to wear heels. I've honed my wearable-and-not-stoopidly-uncomfortable-heel-spotting talents to a razor's edge. Also, I figure that sure, my feet are big, but if they were any shorter I'd fall over on my face. More. I have several pairs of Fleuvogs that I adore (usually bought on sale, too, but also they last forever so I can justify the expense. Then again, I can justify anything, pretty much. Especially when it has to do with footwear.) Dayton'sSidekicks are also good for cutifying the feet, in a tough-girl kinda way. Again, they're stupidly expensive, of course, but they really do last forever--I have an old pair of my uncle's that's probably older than me, and has long since ceased to be recognizably black, and I love love love them. (They've even got the shifter scars from when he used to ride. Hee.)
Tangerine, I know the feeling... I have a hard time with round-toes since I have wide feet, but tiny, and I look like a child's drawing of a person, with perfectly square feet.
(I would, personally, kill for a pair of shoes wide enough for my toes but not so wide in the heels that I step out of them. I just got these and they are crazy wide in the heel. And I got them on amazon for $40 less than the zappos price!)
Tangerine, that reminds me of a 5'2'' friend who, when she wears tinly little round-toed shoes, refers to her feet as "Muppet feet." It's adorably accurate. Her feet are about the size of my hands.
Me, I like square- and round-toed shoes. And boots. I'm infinitely glad that I discovered boots taller than my feet are long.
I usually go for flats, but elizard's inspired me: maybe I should be less afraid of heels. Then again, my gf is barely five feet tall, so we'd look a little silly together.
Pish, bassjump! There are tall/short couples all over the place. I would never give up my size 9.5 heels for anything. I even have a pair of heels with the long pointy toes that make my feet longer, yes, but they don't look monstrous like I thought they would.
OK I love those shoes. I want a pair (size 9 or 9 1/2). Does the strap dig into your feet? Those are so great. I only will wear really comfy shoes unless I have to wear big girl clothes for something and these look really great AND comfy.
If you need help fixing your strap I will come over and do it. These remind me (in a really good way) of the red shoes with the strap I used to wear as a little kid.
I have to join the bigfoot support group. I wear size 9.5/10, but as previously mentioned, I'm 5'4". What the hell is up with that?! I'm big boned too (really!). Maybe someone really did put a brick on my head when I was growing up.
