THIS IS A SHOUTING THREAD. A VERY VERY VERY ANGRY SHOUTING THREAD. I WENT TO GET THE MAIL. I WAS SO HAPPY AT ALL THE BUNNY CARDS THAT ARRIVED, AND THEN...I OPENED ONE LAST ENVELOPE.→[More:]

IT WAS A PHOTOCOPIED SHEET ASKING FOR TOY DONATIONS FOR *WHITE* CHILDREN AND *WHITE* ELDERLY PEOPLE, ETC FROM THE SAME RACIST INDIVIDUAL FROM UP NORTH WHO SENT THE OTHER RACIST MAIL TO US!!!!!!!!!!!

I WANT TO CRY AND I WANT TO PUNCH SOMEONE. TO GO FROM SUCH A HAPPY FEELING FROM LOOKING AT BUNNIES IN JAUNTY SANTA HATS AND BUNNIES SNORGLING KITTIES TO THIS CRAP!!!!!!

I CALLED THE NUMBER ON THE PAPER AND LEFT BEHIND A MESSAGE DEMANDING THEY REMOVE OUR NAME ALONG WITH LETTING HIM KNOW THAT I LOVE MY BLACK SON IN LAW AND I LOVE MY BIRACIAL GRANDBUN AND I FOLLOWED IT UP WITH LETTING HIM KNOW HE NEEDS TO REPENT!!!!!!

(I WANTED TO TELL HIM TO GO TO HELL BUT I DON'T HAVE TO AS LONG AS HE HOLDS THOSE BELIEFS. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGG!!!!)

I tore the stuff up and threw it in the garbage.

Interestingly enough I have been cleaning out my room today and found the first missive. I'd put it in a plastic baggie in case I needed to report it or something. I decided to toss it today. And THEN went to the mailbox. Some coincidence.

It just boggles my mind.

The crassness of some people is unfathomable.

So, so sorry.

Oh, and since you know the return address, just be sure and mark anything else they may send you "refused - return to sender"

Or, better yet, just burn it since you cannot burn the jerks. Do something tangible with it to rid yourself of their vile.

We can start a whole thread on suggestions of what to do with it...

bunnyfire, sometimes I scare myself.

I've actually done more paid writing since the Strike started than before, and most of it for an affiliate of one of the AMPTP companies, but absolutely NOT scab work. However, the first time I wrote ABOUT the Strike, I got my 1900 word article 'edited' to shreds. This Idle Mind is currently trying to work on things more pro-active than reactive - but not doing very well; still, that will be when I really get scary.

Whew! I was a little nervous there, because I'd sent you a Christmas card, and I thought from the outside part of the post that maybe there was something wrong with it . . . . but no, it was just racist assholery you got. My sympathies.

When I was a girl, we drove sometimes from VA to NC, and there was this sign on a hill as you crossed into NC on I-85 that said, "The KKK welcomes you." This was in the 70s -- it ain't there no more, thank goodness.

(not to imply that racism is a strictly southern thing -- I never lived in a place where there was an actual cross burning in somebody's yard in the time I lived there until I moved to Maine, so there you go.)

JanetLand, there was a similar billboard on the old Highway 301 (the old i-95 in NC) not too far from where I lived as a child. Stupid sheeted guy on a sheeted horse.
