I read somewhere that Immigration officers at JFK had been given training by Disney on how to be nice to people. I am always so careful to say 'yes sir, no sir' at US Immigration officials and give them the answers they want.
When I was visiting George I never mentioned I was visiting a boyfriend, in case they decided I might not go home again. When they asked me how I knew these people in Ohio I'd just say "through church", which always appeared to be the right answer.
but then, it's nice to see that they're assholes to Aryans, too -- it'd be sadder if they only treated like shit the brown peoples of the world.
why in the world one would chain like an animal somebody who may overstayed their visa by 3 weeks 12 years earlier defies rational thought. has she overstayed her visa 12 years ago? cool, it must be in the database. give her a glass of water courtesy of the US government, explain politely that she can't enter the country, then escort her to the airport terminal and send her back to where she came from, for fuck's sake. is it that hard to do? really?
my daughter asked for us to take a trip to New York as an 18th Birthday gift and things like this make me hesitate. I've travelled alone to Asia South America, and I honestly hesitate at the first trip to the USA.
We don't know the whole story. To be fair to the blogger, we probably don't have the whole story because they never gave HER the whole story. But yes, it's uncivilized to treat people with such brutality for what is essentially a filing mistake.
