Judge Judy nails an EBay scammer There were some below-the-belt punches by the judge, but I really enjoyed watching the scammer's ass get handed to her. It's like MetaTalk but in video form.
I can't stand people who act like some sort of disingenuous weasel wording is a license for them to do something wrong. It's unbelievable that the defendant would be willing to show her cheating face to the whole country like this. She must have really thought she was going to win.

She wouldn't have received a $5000 judgment against her in small claims court either.

You were watching Judge Judy?

No, I saw this on Digg. I think the shame would be less if I watched Judge Judy.

I just read a paper that says that the Judge Judy producers pay all monetary judgments, which is not what Wikipedia led me to believe.

I got no problem with the producers paying the fines, just so long as they followed through and alerted the IRS and CPS on the crook.

1. Judge Judy doesn't portray a real small claims court. It's more like binding arbitration.
2. If the plaintiff wins, I think both the defendant and plaintiff are payed an appearance fee. So yeah, I'd go on Judge Judy even if I knew I was a lying, cheating crook.

Maybe I meant NON-binding arbitration.

Okay, honestly? The woman may be a scam artist, but she doesn't deserve to be spoken to in that manner, not even on television. To be told she doesn't like to work, just likes making babies? Maybe Judge Judy doesn't realize that making and raising babies IS work.

If there's a nice website about this somewhere, perhaps with original images of the posting, maybe after I'd read it I'd be more prone to mocking the woman. But not for making babies. You know?

Judge Judy is one of my guilty secrets. Her old shows (from 2001 or so) are shown on ITV2 at about the time I'm eating dinner. Most of the time her bullshit detector is spot-on. I wish I could be as firm with the complainants in my cases.

Oh wow! I can totally see Jan as a UK Judge Judy.

I agree brina, those were below-the-belt punches that made me wince. Calling her a thief and a liar made me happy though.

It's binding arbitration, in that you can't sue again in the real courts on the same set of facts. But the producers pay the judgments.

Judge Judy is less likable than Carrot Top.

YEss! I want Judge Jan! Between bullshit spotting we get pictures of kyoot fluffy bunnies and hilarious kitties. That show would so rock my world.

Also, while yes, making babies is hard work - but the scam artist brought up her daughter in that mother-is-upset-about-kid-being-victimized-tone she shouldn't be using in this case. "They left bad feedback on my daughters account!!" Ho-kay, your daughter is five at the most (oldest kid was five) and should not be having an eBay account to begin with. That was just a shrieking scam-artist waving the mommy-flag to me, and that makes me see red - and I think that's what pushed Judge Judy's button as well. She's a mother too you know. You don't play that mommy-card unless it's serious and someone really is picking on your kid.

OMG, Judge Jan! That would be killer!

I still have my solicitor's gown and jabot. The woman on the bottom row, second left is wearing solicitors' court robes. Solicitors don't wear wigs in court, unlike barristers.

I haven't rewatched the article, dabitch. I thought it was the plaintiff's daughter (who was in the room) who had bad feedback left on her account.
