Turtlegirl and I will be in London for a few weeks and we were hoping we could get some recommendations for places to eat ON Christmas day and/or Boxing day.

We completely understand that our options may be limited to restaurants run by groups not celebrating the holiday and that is okay by us.

So please recommend a nice restaurant (or more) with atmosphere and yummy foods.

Thanks!

[This is a duplicate of an AskMe post, FYI)

Thanks for that tip, jan. We will be staying just north of Hyde Park that day.

No taxis either?

What street are you staying in? Hyde Park is huge. Not sure about taxis, but if there are any, be prepared to pay stupid sums of money for a cab.

No idea how many will be about and there's a £4 per journey surcharge. Yay state endorsed religion.

Edgware Road is a district just east of north of Hyde Park that's full of Asian/Middle Eastern/etc food. Can't reccomend anywhere specific mind.

I don't know about the UK, but the Indian places open on Christmas in the US are much less crowded than the Chinese.

Never underestimate the popularity of curry in Britain. It's the national dish. Places will be HEAVING.

Your best bet is to find a friendly local pub and get there early enough to be served. Everyone goes out on Christmas.
