I got a $16 haircut today. It is about half as good as the $40 one I got the last few times. But I needed a haircut, I was stuck waiting for the tires to get installed, and it was right there.
I generally avoid getting my hair cut at tire stores, but, hey, if it works for you...

Well, if you got 50% as good of a haircut for only 40% of the price you made out by...

Hell, I hate math.

Did you get the $16 one and the $40 one at different places? Or does your hairstylist have a sliding fee scale, like:

♦ For A Vogue or GQ Gig = $40
♦ Pretty Primo = $30
♦ It'll Get You Through a Job Interview = $20
♦ Doesn't Really Suck = $16
♦ Mr. Dundee the Sheep Shearer's Special = $5
♦ The Britney DIY = Free but we get to watch and laugh

I spent 7 minutes giving my brother a haircut today, and then 5 more cutting my own. We spent maybe $0.03 for electricity. Walking to the barbershop 2 blocks away is hardly worth the trouble, but we do it sometimes, for the checkers and the bullsh*t. Often we come home, and touch up the barbershop cut a bit ourselves, but we don't mind. We do mind spending $12 a piece at the striped pole sign, but William, the guy that owns the joint, is trying to keep a real barbershop going. He gets some military trade, which helps, but keeping the lights on is a month to month deal, for him.

Well, as I only get a haircut every 4-6 months, the flowbee won't begin to pay real dividends for a couple years, and at my current rate of hair loss, I may not need it by then.

This was at Supercuts, so I ended up shelling out $20 including tip. The other haircut was the guy who cut my hair for my wedding (and on two other occcasions) and he gave me a tin of some kind of wax, so probably it's still about breaking even. I end up way overtipping there, though, so the multipliers are still just about valid.

I was actually surprised at how close to worth it the $16 haircut is. I can see what's wrong with it, and it will need touching up sooner, but as someone who goes as long as I do without what most consider normal grooming, I was pleasantly surprised. Most haircuts I have gotten that cost less then $25 are abysmal and often get the #2 treatment with my clippers soon after.

Wow. I feel very lucky. I pay my local guy $12 with tip and I get lots of compliments on the cuts he does.

Twelve bucks? Want some champagne with that haircut, Mr. Rockefeller?

I bought a set of clippers maybe ten years ago (right after I got rid of the dreadlocks, which represented my previous ideas about mininum-maintenance haircare) and have been using them ever since. I think I've said this here before, but if you can manage to lower your standards far enough, there's no beating the price.

I keep my hair short, so I get a haircut about every five weeks. But I'm just not up to cutting it myself. Luckily I don't mind those cheapo hair cutting "salons". I prefer going to barber shops with a guy's name on the window and where they talk way too much about sports, but those places seem to have disappeared around me. I hate sports, but it comforts me hearing it discussed while getting my hair cut - it makes me fell a bit more connected to my more macho bretheren.

I was going to say my hair looks just fine, but I just realized that I don't think I've been comlimented on a haircut in about 15 years. All I get is "hey - you got a haircut!". Maybe I should go with the clippers - I don't think I have to worry about wrecking "my look".

Yeah, that's kinda where I'm at. When you look like I do, a haircut isn't going to make that much difference one way or the other.

I have to say I have noticed a huge difference since I started getting my hair properly cut and high/lowlighted. It's horrendously expensive (I go to one of the 'Footballer's Wives' salons near where I live) but I am not extravagant in other ways so I am prepared to treat myself every six weeks or so for a good cut.

I'm getting my hair cut in an hour, and I'm already bricking it. I never know what to ask for. Hope me.

I normally get $12 haircuts at great clips. Since I keep my hair short (pixie cut) - I would rather pay $12 to have it screwed up than $50. There are two types of hair cutters at Great Clips...really super genius level and people fresh from hair school that don't have any experience.

I don't want my hair to look perfect. I want it to look like it's supposed to look a little screwy so the $12 haircut works for me.

I like to get my hair cut at a local cosmetology school. I'm a guy, so YMMV. But, the haircuts cost $5-$6 and are very professionally done. Best of all, an instructor will come and check the cut after it's done and clean up anything that needs to be finished.

I'm lucky that way--I have a friend who works in a chi-chi $100 salon, but for various reasons (including that I let him at my hair when he was in school) cuts my hair for free in his home. We drink wine, smoke, catch up, listen to good music, (sometimes the pre-mixes of his latest album, which is always fun and makes me feel like I'm still somewhat in touch with the local music scene), and I end up with a great cut that still looks good a couple of months later (which is good, 'cause that's about how often I get to the city).

The mister gets his hair cut at one of the $16 places. They usually do a great job but the last one was horrible. It all depends on the stylist.

I'll be going to the same place to get my bangs trimmed (which I usually do myself) and the length tidied up (it hasn't been cut in months). They can't screw that up too much. Right?

I haven't had my hair cut in two years (but I liked the trim she gave me and I would go back to her in a heartbeat)... In related news, my son has been growing out his "white boy fro" for two years and he won't let anymore near it with scissors.
