Today was my 10th day on the job, I believe, and the first I spent entirely writing php rather than just setting stuff up and feeling my way around. Felt good. I'm amazed and happy that somebody would pay me good money to sit around coding all day. Though I've been doing it for years, this is the first time I've been hired specifically as a programmer. That feels nice for a self-taught person like myself.
Riding the metro into the city is awesome. Pretty women about. Coworkers are nice, generally. One nearby cubicle mate plays xmas music and Madonna a little too loudly, but that's it.
Main complaint: my work space sucks. I have literally no privacy. It's in the middle of the room, right by the copier and the entrance to the conference room. It has only one cube wall, directly in front of me. Nothing on sides. My desk is just a tabletop, so at first I didn't even have a drawer to stash my cigarettes and ginseng. I'm not used to that...puts some damper on the metachat. But I'm hoping it's temporary.
But, yeah, it's good. Thanks for asking. What's up with you?
