Just 1/2 an inch here, but that's enough to thrust the dog into madness. She runs around like a maniac, pushing her nose into the snow, snorting, and rolling. It's unadulterated joy. I love it.
I'm in LA for a few days for meetings, but my wife was giving me snow updates back home in Chicago last night. I haven't checked in yet this morning to get the final tally. We've already gotten hit with a ton of ice, but I've only had to do a token shoveling. I'm sort of looking forward to seeing snowfall when I get back into Chicago tomorrow morning. But I'm dreading the 5AM walk from the shuttle to my car since I left my winter coat in the car. I'll be wearing a sweater and light jacket and walking very fast.
Actually, Grace, so do I. (Luckily we never really get any- a dusting every few years.) At this point, though, I'll take water from the sky in any form it chooses to fall. :)
There were about four inches of lovely crunchy snow in my courtyard this morning. It made me want to skip work and play in the snow, but, alas, I didn't. The streets were clear, so I had a nice bike ride in to work.
Here, snow means the streets lose anywhere from 1-5 feet of their width as cars park father and farther from the curb. Fortunately, I've stubbornly decided I'm going to bike or walk to work as much as possible.
The dump we got last weekend is all gone. There are rumours of more on Sunday but that's too far out to be accurate weather-wise. We actually have a bit of sunshine today and it's supposed last through Saturday with a high just above freezing.
There's definitely puppy uppers in the white stuff - Kaylee goes nuts in the snow.
I took the dogs outside last night after it started snowing and Lulu went insane running around the yard. Binky stood next to me wondering why Lulu seemed to be enjoying it so much. This morning Lulu did the same crazy running around thing. Binky once again stood by me wondering what was so special about this cold white stuff on the ground.
I think we probably got about 3-4 inches but by mid-morning it had melted to the point of being an inch or so. I'm surprised any of it actually stuck. I always get super excited about the first snowfall of the season. (I stayed up super late so I could take the dogs out to play in it at 3am. Because I'm a huge nerd.)
