TV Trivia Question: Invisible recurring characters.[More:]The best bartenders in town always have a trivia challenge or joke for us. Tonight it was "name TV shows in which there are recurring characters who are never seen." Charlie of Charlie's Angels came to mind immediately, as did Rhoda's Carlton the Doorman, the adults in Charlie Brown known only by their wah-wah voices, and a few others. Got any more? Did Maris on Frasier ever appear on camera?
Norm's wife Vera is the first that comes to mind. I don't think we ever saw Maris...but I stopped watching that show for the last few years.

Add: Vera, Norm's wife, on Cheers.

Holy cow...just noticed the typos in my FPP. I wasn't at the bar *that* long...just a long workday. Yeesh!

Would you believe this was asked before?

I'd like to say "No way! I canNOT believe that!" but, despite my surprise, I realize...this is MetaChat. It makes sense...

I'm going to think of someone not on that wiki list if it takes me all night.

What about Nanny on Muppet Babies? All you saw were her legs.

On "Bill and Ben" the man who owned the garden. He was always just coming back from eating his dinner, so Bill and Ben had to scramble back into their flowerpots at the end of every episode. But he remained an unseen and menacing presence.

Karen's husband Stan on Will & Grace.

Oh, good heavens. I never looked at the Wiki until now...it's hopeless. There's no out-geeking these TV geeks; I haven't watched enough TV in my entire lifetime to even know half of these shows. Fuggedaboutit. Though I think I will print out this page to give to Nick the bartender.

One that I don't see on that list is the "producer" on old episodes of America's Funniest Home Videos - you know, when Bob Sagat was hosting. The guy would hand Bob the results, and Bob would make a little one-liner about his appearance, but AFAIK, he was never seen on-screen.
