They aren't as comfortable as having a couch on the porch, but they're certainly a lot classier. I love having a porch.

The ultimate in porch comfort is the cushioned glider. Oh yes.

But rocking chairs are cool. The Atlanta airport used to be famous for its rocking chairs; in traveling now, I notice that rocking chairs seem to be becoming standard in airports. They're great for traveling with infants...a little rocking time is soothing and quietening.

Some of my favorite places in this world have had long, easy wooden porches with rows of rocking chairs on them, preferably facing the ocean.

And while you're at it, why not add a brightly-colored Adirondack Chair or two? And seeing as you're in a rockin' mellow mood, why not try some Bill Monroe or Ola Belle Reed on the box to boot?
