I could care less about Carson Daly, but I doubt he's behind it. NBC is testing the waters on whether it can start bringing in scabs for it's other, more important shows. It wouldn't risk the value Leno or other starts with a move like this, but Carson Daly is cannon fodder.
This is the only thing Carson Daly has for the rest of his life, so I can't really blame him for not saying no to his bosses. I wouldn't want to have to go out and get a real job either.
It was unclear what effect, if any, the return of “Last Call” would have on other late-night talk shows, which include NBC’s “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” CBS’ “Late Show with David Letterman” and “Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson,” and ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Comedy Central’s late-night news-and-commentary spoofs, “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Colbert Report” with Stephen Colbert, have also been in reruns.
Interesting that all these other guys have a writing background, but Daly doesn't. I wonder if that's the difference.
