This is one of those movies I used to watch on cable with the sound down after my parents went to bed. I was strictly on the look-out for nude scenes, of which teen comedies were a prime nutrional source, but occasionally I'd end up seeing a movie with some real meat on its bones. Heaven Help Us definitely falls into that category. And though I'm not Catholic, this movie, and especially scenes involving the one particularly sadistic Jesuit Brother, made an indelible impression on me that persists to this day.

And Wallace Shawn is good in anything.

Atom Eyes, my dad and some of my uncles went to catholic school in New York in the 1960's and they have told me stories that pretty much provethis film's veracity, up to and including the naked swim class.

I was edumacated by the Jesuits. They were very liberal in the way they ran things. My parochial Catholic grade school was a different story. About the only thing I would not go to hell for was sitting quietly in my chair and breathing.
